What’s this!!?? I thought the HFPA was pissed with Ricky Gervais for his controversial hosting of the Golden Globes?
After Ricky got the nation in a tizzy for his insult-laden hosting gig, everyone was quick to say Ricky would never host the Globes again. Including Ricky – who said “I think twice is enough.”
But looks like he might need to consider returning, because according to the comedian – the HFPA has already come knocking for next year!
“I did exactly what I went to do. Improve on last year’s and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks,” Gervais wrote in a diary for Heat Magazine. “The ratings went up again, and the organizers asked me to consider a third year. I don’t think I should. I don’t know what I could do better. I certainly couldn’t get mor press for them, that’s for sure.”
For his part, Gervais didn’t ever seem to think he did anything wrong, saying that “being nice would be nauseating.”
“I’m not going to apologize for being true to myself,” he said. “My strategy is to make me laugh. If there’s anyone in the world like me, that’s a bonus.”
The HFPA obviously realizes that bad publicity is still publicity – and the Golden Globes remains the only award show worth watching, if you ask me. I think the rest of them are a total snooze fest.
TMZ reports that Halle Berry and ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry are locked in a heated battle over the custody of their 2-year-old daughter Nahla, and they have been for months.
Apparently Gabriel is sick and tired of Halle’s movie career getting in the way of him seeing his daughter. This is what caused Halle to back out of ‘New Years Eve’ – and Katherine Heigl took over her role.
Accommodations were made for Gabriel to join Halle on the set of her last movie, in London, but he doesn’t like having to travel with Halle to see his daughter.
The couple never established custody and visitation rights – they tried to figure it out themselves, without the help of the court, but the situation has become “impossible”.
I can see how both sides would be frustrating. On Halle’s part – she’s an actress, it’s what she does for a living. She has to travel. That makes sense. On the other hand, Gabriel probably doesn’t like having to drop whatever he’s doing – to follow Halle around the world while she films movies. He has a modeling career himself. Gonna get ugly, I’m afraid!
