Olivia Wilde and husband of 8 years, Tao Ruspoli have split.
The House M.D. actress and her husband have mutually agreed to separate after eight years of marriage, PEOPLE has learned.
“They have been living apart after trying for quite some time to make their relationship work,” says a source.
Wilde, 26, eloped with Ruspoli, 35, an Italian prince whose family owns Rome’s Palazzo Ruspoli, when she was 18 years old.

“Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon and Christine Marinoni welcomed a new baby boy into the world, according to a source close to the family, who tells Scoop that Marinoni gave birth to Maxim Ellington Nixon-Marinoni Monday morning.
Nixon, 44, and Marinoni, 43, have been together since 2004, and became engaged in May 2009, and Nixon has a daughter, Samantha, 14, and son, Charles, 8, from her previous relationship with photographer Danny Mozes.
Reps for Nixon didn’t respond to request for comment.
PS: That picture above was taken in October, which would have made her about 5 months pregnant!

Ha! This is hilarious! According to Gawker, not everyone thinks Kim Kardashian is the bees knees.
Monday was the last night of musician/god Prince’s run of concerts at Madison Square Garden, and because he is Prince, and does what he wants, he invited large-busted socialite Kim Kardashian to dance with him onstage (around 1:00 in the video). But she didn’t dance! Instead, she stood there and pulled that awkward-pretend-laugh-oh-God-I’m-so-uncomfortable move that is a favorite of people who can’t dance, or don’t want to embarrass themselves trying.
But you don’t do that to Prince in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden, no matter how many sex tapes you have. So he kicked her off stage unceremoniously, and the moment was recorded for posterity in this delightful video.
