Jessica Simpson happy to have a ‘stud’ like Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson has been blathering non-stop about her new fiancee Eric Johnson. He’s perfect, he’s “the one”, blah blah blah.

The two of them spent their first Christmas together and she wants everyone to be inundated with reports of her happiness.

Us Magazine has more:

“I’m so grateful this holiday season!” Simpson, 30, tweeted Sunday. “Eric is the perfect addition to our family. We all stayed at my parents on Christmas Eve. We are lucky to have three new studs in the fam: Pete, BX, and EJ!”

On Tuesday, the duo traded sunshine for snowfall when they arrived in Aspen, Colorado. Shortly after settling into their private home, Simpson and Johnson, 32, ventured out to explore the city.

“She was in a good mood and seemed eager to shop,” an eyewitness tells UsMagazine.com. “She walked straight over to Fendi where she spent a long time trying on coats and looking at bags.”

We get it….She’s happy. We’re happy for her, but she needs to learn to stop sounding like she’s trying so hard.

The Oscar Race is On!

Natalie Portman took her fans by surprise this week with a big announcement: She’s pregnant and engaged to marry her Black Swan choreographer, Benjamin Millepied. But that’s hardly the only excitement she’s got coming in the new year. The 29-year-old actress — who graces the cover of this week’s Oscar Race issue — is poised to score a Best Actress nomination for her career-high turn as a tormented ballerina in Black Swan, a role she says nearly destroyed her. “There were some nights that I thought I literally was going to die,” she says. “It was the first time I understood how you could get so wrapped up in a role that it could sort of take you down.” Instead, the performance has lifted Portman into the ranks of Oscar shoe-ins this year (alongside 127 Hours star and Oscar co-host James Franco, who also gets his own EW cover this week) and turned Black Swan into an unlikely box office star — with a little help from a steamy love scene between Portman and co-star Mila Kunis. “Everyone was so worried about who was going to want to see this movie,” Portman says. “I remember them being like, ‘How do you get guys to a ballet movie? How do you get girls to a thriller?’ And the answer is a lesbian scene. Everyone wants to see that.”

I’ve seen both Black Swan and 127 Hours, and I loved them both!! Black Swan was creepy, and pretty amazing. Natalie Portman (and Mila Kunis, in my opinion, both deserve Oscar nominations. Natalie was brilliant!) 127 Hours is probably one of my favorite films of the year. The 4 minute scene in which James Franco cuts his arm off is extremely brutal – but if you close your eyes (like I did) you will be happy you saw the movie. James Franco not only deserves the Oscar – but SHOULD win!

His only competition would be Jeff Bridges in True Grit, but I haven’t seen that yet. So until then – James gets my vote!

Rupert Everett slams Jennifer Aniston for doing too many “vital tasteless romcom’s”

50-year old Rupert Everett, best known for his role in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding,’ spoke with the UK’s BBC’s Radio 4, sounding a familiar lament about his role in the film industry, and the discrimination he faces.

Comparing his acting talent to that of Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, Everett said that producers would say they couldn’t find a role that fit him, which he said came only because he was gay.

“I never got a job there, and I never got a job here, after [coming out],” he said. “I did a couple of films, I was very lucky at the beginning of my career… and then, I never had another job here for ten years, probably, and I moved to Europe.”

It’s not just him though; he thinks it’s a problem for all gay — and women — actors.

“I think show business is ideally suited for heterosexuals, it’s a very heterosexual business, it’s run mostly by heterosexual men, and there’s a kind of pecking order. I think the position of women is a pretty difficult one in show business. If you look at the idea of a drunk women in show business on the skids at the age of 50, and a drunken man in show business on the skids, the drunken man gets an awful amount of support, and the women is a slut.”

The system is especially biased, he thinks, because the audience doesn’t see actors as gay or straight.

“The audience has a completely perception of the performers than the business… But the business is what makes the stars, really. There are lots of women and lots of men in the business that the powers that be decide are the right people and they’ll stand with them for quite a long time.”

Still, Hollywood decides on its own who to support, even if its undeserved, Everett says. And to prove his point, he criticized the career of Jennifer Aniston:

“Like Jennifer Aniston will just have one too many total flops. But she’s still a member of that club. And she will still manage to — like a star forming in the universe — a whole lot of things swirling around and suddenly solidifying into yet another vital tasteless romcom: a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula.”

His advice for gay actors? As he’s said before, perhaps not coming out is the best bet:

“There are many of them, and I don’t blame them, it’s very sensible. If I hadn’t been someone who liked and if I hadn’t been a kind of sex maniac and all those kind of things and wanted to go to raves and circuit parties, I don’t think there’s anything to wrong with it. It would have been too complicated for me to tell the lie.”

PS: He’s really not all that wrong about Jen, now is he?

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick stroll in Miami

Kevin Bacon strolled the beaches and streets in Miami with his wife Kyra Sedgwick yesterday afternoon. Kyra held the arm of Kevin during parts of their walk around town as they went from the beach back to their hotel.

It was announced earlier this month that Kyra’s show ‘The Closer’ on TNT would be ending after the upcoming season on TNT.

It’s impossible to fully express our appreciation to Kyra Sedgwick, series creator James Duff and all of the other talented people who brought THE CLOSER to TNT viewers,” said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. “THE CLOSER was a pivotal series in setting a new course for TNT’s original programming, while also serving as a prime example of the storytelling strength possible on cable television.”

“I cannot fathom how difficult it will be to say goodbye to the incredible family we’ve created on THE CLOSER,” Sedgwick said. “I will always be grateful to James Duff for his love and friendship, as well as for creating such a rich and complex character who I have loved living with year after year. Mike, Greer, Rick and all of our outstanding cast and crew are forever in my heart. I want to thank TNT and Warner Bros. Television, as well as the incredible fans of THE CLOSER, for all of their unwavering support over the last seven years.”

I really loved ‘The Closer’ for the first couple seasons, but I lost interest after that. You’ve seen one episode, you’ve seen them all IMO. But it was definitely a good show!

PS: I love them! It’s nice to see a couple that actually makes it!

Guess which film was the highest-grossing film of 2010?

I don’t know why – but I’m surprised it was Toy Story 3!

Toy Story 3′s profits soared to infinity and beyond this year – it’s been named the highest-grossing film of 2010.

In a list dominated by family-friendly movies, the latest installment in the computer-animated franchise – with characters voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen – raked in over $1.06 billion at the worldwide box office following its release in the summer.

Tim Burton’s fantasy film Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, came second in the list after taking $1.02 billion and the first of the two-part Harry Potter swansong movie - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 - is third with $861 million.

The fourth highest-grossing picture of the year is sci-fi movie Inception, with earnings of $825 million, and Shrek Forever After is fifth with $740 million.

The top 10 is rounded out by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Iron Man 2, Despicable Me, Clash of the Titans, and How To Train Your Dragon.
