Scarlett Johansson has signed on to star in Under the Skin, a sci-fi drama from Sexy Beast writer-director Jonathan Glazer.

According to the company,  “Johansson plays an alien on earth, disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey — her voracious sexuality.”

But, wait, there’s more. “She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind. Taking her point of view throughout, the film presents a unique look at our world through alien eyes.”

In a statement, FilmNation CEO Glen Basner said, “We’re so very excited to be working on this arrestingly original movie. How could we pass up the chance to work with a visionary director like Jonathan, especially when combined with the intriguing notion of Scarlett Johansson as a ruthless alien seductress?”

An alien that uses her sexuality to snare men? Sounds entertaining!

News has confirmed that police are planning to subpoena MTV (which boasts either the greatest or worst casting, we can’t decide) for the unedited footage of the decidedly one-sided fight between the show’s most infamous Teen Mom, Amber Portwood, and what has to be the most bruised teen dad, Gary Shirley.

“We’re looking for any behavior that would be considered to be unlawful where the law is broken,” Indiana’s Anderson Police Department spokesman Mitch Carroll told E! News, adding that police are currently drafting a subpoena to send to MTV.

“From what we have seen so far from the allegations, and we have to bear in mind that we’re dealing with edited footage, it could be something as simple as misdemeanor domestic violence battery—a Class A misdemeanor. Or if it is in fact found to have occurred in the presence of a child less than 14 years of age it could be upgraded to a Class D felony.”

Carroll said that both Portwood and Shirley have fully cooperated with the police and both even came in last month to provide them with statements in the investigation, which remains open.

But while they came in together to deal with police, it’s probably the last such trip they’ll make in tandem.

The duo has reportedly split. And cashing in on their 15 minutes seems to run in Amber’s family, as her dad Shawn Portwood has already told all to RadarOnline.com.

“They don’t belong together,” he said. “They just don’t mix. There’s not enough there. They separated and she’s moving on.”

The CW will not order a full second season of Life Unexpected, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Although the network asked for two additional scripts last month, it has now opted not to pick up additional episodes beyond the initial 13-episode order. The drama, however, is not officially canceled.

Despite critical praise for the series, which follows the story of a young girl finding her real parents after living in foster care, Life Unexpected pulled in less than 1 million viewers in its last outing, sliding from 1.7 million viewers for its Season 2 premiere.

While it hasn’t been officially canceled, this is not a good sign. I couldn’t get through the first season, so I see why it’s struggling.
