Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton are engaged and will marry next spring or summer in London — a royal wedding that Britons have been eagerly awaiting for years. The announcement Tuesday by royal officials ends an on-again, off-again romance that began after the two met more than eight years ago as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Prince Charles’ Clarence House office said the heir to the British throne is “delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton.” It said they got engaged last month during a vacation in Kenya.

The prince, who is second in line to the throne, once told an interviewer he wouldn’t marry “until I’m at least 28 or maybe 30.” He turned 28 in June and recently completed training a Royal Air Force search and rescue pilot.

The royal family is said to approve of Middleton, the daughter of self-made millionaires. Her father worked for an airline and her mother was a flight attendant before they started a mail-order business specializing in children’s parties, run from their farm in southern England.

Former Bachelorette Jen Schefft and husband Joe Waterman welcomed their first child, Mae Elizabeth Waterman, on Saturday, November 13.

“She was 7-pounds even at 20 inches,” Schefft tells UsMagazine.com exclusively. “She and her mommy are home now and doing great!”

It’s a storybook beginning for baby Mae. In October, Schefft, 34, showed Us around her Alice in Wonderland-themed nursery.

The Chicago PR-exec filled the room with shabby-chic furniture, including a $1,200 iron crib from PoshTots. “There are stenciled flowers, a teapot on the table and even the lights are colored with moss,” Schefft revealed.

A month after surviving a horrific crash that put him in a medically induced coma, BMX superstar TJ Lavin has returned home.

The host of MTV’s Real World Road Rules Challenge, 33, was released Friday.

He has “crawled out of a deep hole,” his mother tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

She says he is “he is now walking, talking, eating on his own and is getting his sense of humor back. He has some eye issues and balance issues, but as the swelling goes down, we hope they will go away.”

He occasionally has to wear an eyepatch.

Britney Spears’s parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, are reconciling eight years after their divorce.

They are back together and are doing well and happy,” a source tells PEOPLE. “[They're] not remarried but back together.”

The couple, who divorced in 2002, were looking friendly on Saturday at Los Angeles lounge Boudoir. Onlookers at the lounge spotted Lynne and Jamie cheering and dancing as DJ Mr. Best spun Britney’s hits, like “Toxic” and “Gimme More.”
