Lauren Conrad is all smiles as she proudly does double duty book promotion in NYC, at Barnes &Nobel where the former cast member of “The Hills” promoted “Style” and “LA Candy”.
During yesterday’s book signing, Lauren spoke with MTV about her new reality show, which she promises will be much different than anything she’s done before.
“Well, I never was completely done with reality. It was just reality based on my personal life,” she told MTV News on Tuesday evening in New York City. Conrad held a book signing for her two latest efforts, her final “L.A. Candy” novel, “Sugar and Spice,” and her aptly titled style manual, “Style.” “So this time around I’m involved with producing,” she continued. “I love the style they want to film it in.”
Of course, the biggest change fans will notice is that instead of giving viewers a peek into her personal life, Conrad will document the challenges of starting up a fashion line from scratch. “It’s focusing on my career and all the things that I love to do,” she said. “So I think it’ll be a very different show. So that’ll be nice.”
And going back into production means that Conrad will also get the chance to work with some familiar faces. “I’m excited because I get to work with some of my old crew, which is really cool,” she dished. “I haven’t gotten to see them in a while because they’re all very busy people, but hopefully I’m going to get some familiar faces. I already have a couple of the guys from ‘The Hills.’ ”
When the show was announced late last month, the reality TV darling gushed about returning to the network. “I am so excited to be rejoining the MTV family,” she said. “The new project will follow me as I develop my new contemporary line and also touch on my other businesses.”

On the different types of attention she gets:
“Women hit on me,” she chuckles. “My husband thinks it’s so odd that so many women hit on me.” Gay men too. “They say to me, ‘Well, I’m not straight, but if I was…’ I think it’s so flattering.”
On helping change standards of beauty:
During Mad Men’s first season, she and Arend were at dinner when a fan approached her and said, “‘Excuse me, I just want to tell you that I watch your show, and you make me feel better about myself. I am a curvy woman, and you’ve made me feel sexy and beautiful.’ I got teary eyed.”
On her modeling career:
At five foot eight and a size 4, Christina made a good living modeling. One day, however, her agent asked her to lose 10 pounds. “I remember thinking, You’re crazy! I said okay, but I didn’t do it. It seems that models have gotten smaller. I was a 4, but now they’re a 0 or 2.”
Lisa Rinna announced yesterday that in August she had her famous lips reduced. Back in the 80′s, she had her upper lip injected with silicone. Just this past August, she had the lip taken back down to a more normal look. She says it will take up to six months for the swelling to go down.
Surgery or no surgery, I still think her face looks wonky. She needs to quit messing with herself!

FOX is adapting the blockbuster 2005 film Hitch for TV!
It comes from Will Smith and James Lassiter’s Overbrook Entertainment and The Proposal writer Pete Chiarelli who will pen the project. It’s described as an action-packed one-hour and received a script commitment, plus penalty, from the network. Sony Pictures TV and Overbrook are producing.
The movie, which Overbrook co-produced with Sony’s Columbia Pictures, starred Smith as a date doctor. This marks the TV debut for Chiarelli who also is writing feature action comedy Most Wanted, which reunites him with TheProposal stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds and director Anne Fletcher. Overbrook and Sony TV first took a stab at adapting Hitch to series 3 seasons ago when it was developed as a half-hour single-camera comedy at CBS with writer Ben Wexler.
The Project Runway star released a video message earlier today to gay youth in which he reveals he tried to take his own life when he was a teenager by swallowing 100 pills …
“As a 17-year-old youth who was in quite a bit of despair, I attempted to kill myself,” Gunn says in the spot for the It Gets Better Project. “I’m happy to say today that attempt was unsuccessful. But at the time it was all that I could contemplate.”
Gunn urges gay youth looking for help to The Trevor Project, a nationwide suicide prevention hotline.
“I understand the desperation,” he says. “I understand the despair. And I understand how isolated you can feel.” But then he adds, “Reach out. Get help. You’re not alone. It will get better—I promise.”
