George Clooney: ‘Darfur Is The Biggest Failure Of My Life’

George Clooney is frustrated his campaign to highlight the genocide in Darfur hasn’t halted the ongoing killings – branding it “the greatest failure” of his life.

The Hollywood actor has long been involved with raising awareness of the conflicts in the Sudanese region of Darfur, where millions of refugees have allegedly been killed since 2003.

He was even granted a private meeting with President Barack Obama last year to talk about the Be A Voice For Darfur scheme, which aimed to push the White House into taking action in the African region.

The Sudanese government signed a ceasefire agreement with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in February – but it hasn’t stopped civilians being targeted. And Clooney is saddened by the continued violence.

He tells Britain’s The Sun, “I’ve been honoured to be able to lend my celebrity to help wherever I can, especially on behalf of the United Nations. But in the case of Darfur, it’s been the greatest failure of my life. With other people, we’ve been able to get a lot of attention focused on the terrible situation there and nothing has changed. It’s very frustrating.”

Paris Hilton BANNED from Wynn Resorts!

On Wednesday Paris Hilton was banned from two Las Vegas Wynn hotels! Her boyfriend, Cy Waits, who is an employee of the hotels, was fired from his job (of less than a week) as a nightclub manager. Wynn Resorts spokesperson Jennifer Dunne told the AP that Paris is barred from Wynn Las Vegas and Encore.

The moves come after Hilton was arrested Friday for investigation of felony cocaine possession. Waits was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Charges have not yet been filed.

Hilton was arrested inside the Wynn resort, where a police lieutenant reported a small plastic bag containing 0.8 grams of cocaine fell into his hand when Hilton reached for a tube of lip balm in a purse.

The celebrity socialite is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 27 and would face probation if convicted.

A police report made public Wednesday said the suspected butt of a marijuana cigarette was found in the Cadillac Escalade in which the couple was stopped in front of the Wynn Las Vegas hotel-casino.

Waits, 34, was driving. He had bloodshot eyes, smelled of alcohol and wobbled as he failed balance and walk-and-turn field sobriety tests, the arresting officer said.

Attorney Richard Schonfeld, who represents Waits, said his client passed an eye test checking the dilation of his pupils. Schonfeld said he was troubled that Waits wasn’t stopped because of a traffic infraction “or any other indication that he was impaired while driving.”

Waits allowed blood to be drawn when he was booked into the Clark County jail in downtown Las Vegas, Officer Bill Cassell said. Results won’t be released until the case reaches court.

Waits spent a night in jail on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence before being freed on $2,000 bail with a Nov. 29 court date.

Dunne said Waits’ twin brother, Jesse Waits, is continuing as general partner of the Wynn resorts’ Tryst and XS clubs.

The brothers were hired by Steve Wynn five years ago and became the casino owner’s top club managers last week when Wynn bought out Victor Drai.

Lady Gaga poses as the Statue of Liberty on the cover of V Magazine

Here’s a note from the editor: “Just as the Statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion. She embodies everything V is about, and is also a beacon of the city’s creativity and hope. Exactly one year after her first V cover (the first fashion magazine cover she was on), we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city. In the year that’s passed, she has become a bonafide genius and we can safely declare her our muse. Above all, a New York issue should celebrate people who’ve done great things. We at V are grateful Gaga came along to put the New back in New York!”

“The New York Issue,” which features fashion and art in the most exciting city on Earth! Music legend Lady Gaga poses as the Statue of Liberty alongside designer Marc Jacobs for this cover, in which artist Dan Colen interpreted the iconic “V” using bubble gum as his medium. In total, V Magazine collaborated with 4 New York based artists for their creative take, and Colen’s is the first to be released for this exclusive preview. V67 hits newsstands TODAY, September 2nd.

A 2nd cover version stars Marina Abramovic (performance artist) and Tyson Ballou (model). Other notable NYers inside include supermodel Liya Kebede, hotelier Andre Balazs, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, Debbie Harry, Lady Bunny, Mark Ronson, Chloe Sevigny and MORE!

Jon Hamm films ‘Mad Men’ poolside in L.A.

Jon Hamm may look good playing Don Draper, but don’t think he’s anything like his character. ‘I don’t really have that much in comparison to the way Don holds himself,’ Hamm explained.

‘I’m not that guy. I don’t really look like that.’

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the cast of the Emmy Award-winning series offered their thoughts on the characters they play on the hit show.

‘Teen Mom’ Maci finds new love!

Shortly after Maci Bookout ended her bitter relationship with Ryan Edwards, father to her son Bentley, 22 months, last December, the Teen Mom star had a sweet surprise: an unexpected new love with an old childhood pal, Kyle King.

Did Kyle blanche at the prospect of romancing a single, 19-year-old mom? Not at all, Bookout says in the new Us Weekly, out now. “He was very understanding of the whole situation,” the Chattanooga, Tenn. native tells Us of her motherly duties. “Since he wasn’t scared, he put me at ease.”

What makes the 22 year-old Coca Cola merchandiser King so special: “He’s responsible, fun, and incredibly caring, and he’s just a lot more mature than most guys,” Bookout gushes. (Bookout and her little boy even spent the summer in King’s native Nashville to be close to him during her college break.) Once Bookout (a journalism major) “made sure that [Kyle] was really serious about me,” she made the proper introductions to little Bentley. After about a day, she says, “they became inseparable!”

Adds Teen Mom’s executive producer Morgan J. Freeman: “She was terrified Bentley might not warm up to him, but he did. And now they’re having a great time together!” King admits to Us that surrogate fatherhood took some getting used to. “It was a learning process,” he says. “I wasn’t good with kids before, but I’ve learned a lot and now I like it!”
