Casey Affleck finally admits Joaquin Phoenix’s trip to crazytown was all a HOAX!!

Casey Affleck has finally admitted what we all assumed to be true. Last year’s very public meltdown of Joaquin Phoenix (which started with his crazed David Letterman appearance) was ALL FAKE. Joaquin appeared to have lost his ever lovin mind, and tried to start a rap career. (Watch the videos of him “rapping” here)

His documentary “I’m Still Here” was a just a performance by Joaquin. “It’s a terrific performance, it’s the performance of his career,” he told the New York Times.

He was speaking of Phoenix’s two-year portrayal of himself — on screen and off — as a bearded, drug-addled aspiring rap star, who, as Affleck tells it, put his professional life on the line to star in a bit of “gonzo filmmaking” modeled on the reality-bending journalism of Hunter S. Thompson.

“I’m Still Here” opened last week, and has been panned by critics. “The reviews were so angry” said Affleck. “I never intended to trick anybody. The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind.”

“It is a hard movie to watch,” he admits.

He says none of it was real. Not a thing. Even his now famous stint on Letterman was fake – so fake in fact, Letterman wasn’t even in on it. He summed up the interview: “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.”

Apparently when Joaquin goes on Letterman on Wednesday, he will no longer be in character. So we should hopefully finally get to see the REAL Joaquin. We’ve been missing him! This whole crazy stunt was stupid, and from the sounds of it – so is his movie.

Malin Akerman stips down for Details Magazine

Watchmen beauty Malin Akerman stripped down for Details Magazine in this new photoshoot.

Here is some interesting bits from the interview.

When Malin was in high school, she said she lied about her religion in order to go to her boyfriend’s Catholic school.

“If he was going to hang out with all those girls in skirts, I was going to get in one too,” she says, though she scoffed at the school’s strict rules. “You’re not allowed to hold hands. I was thinking, ‘Wow, we’ve already done worse than that.’”

She’s currently in Shreveport, LA filming Catch .44 with Bruce Willis and Forrest Whitaker. “I carry a Glock—I’m gangster now!” she says, referring to her part in Catch .44 as a drug dealer on the run from a psychotic hit man. When asked what makes a Glock a Glock, however, she stops short. “Why’d you have to call me out on that?” she asks, suddenly sounding every bit the ingenue. “They just told me it was a Glock, all right? I was like, ‘Cool. I got a Glock.’”

JUST IN! Sacha Baron Cohen has signed on to star as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury!

According to Deadline.com, Sacha Baron Cohen has officially signed on to play Queen frontman Freddie Mercury!

Peter Morgan is already working on a script focused on the band’s formative years, leading up to Queen’s appearance at Live Aid in 1985. Queen’s performance is considered one of the rock’s all-time great live concert appearances.

No word on whether or not Cohen will sing, or if they’ll use Mercury’s voice. He had such a unique voice, getting someone to copy it would be very difficult.

Freddie Mercury died of AIDS on November 24, 1991, but his final days will not be covered in the film.
