Reese Witherspoon, who won an Oscar in 2005 for portraying June Carter in Walk the Line, may soon be playing a singer again!
Variety is reporting that Reese is working on putting together an untitled biopic about singer Peggy Lee with Nora Ephron.
Reese secured the rights to Peggy Lee’s story herself after meeting with Lee’s family.
Lee, who got her start in the 1940s singing for Benny Goodman’s band, went on to record popular jazz-influenced albums and compose for film soundtracks. She appeared in the 1953 movie “The Jazz Singer” and the 1955 musical “Pete Kelly’s Blues,” which earned her an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Her songwriting and voice-over contributions to Disney’s 1955 film “Lady and the Tramp” eventually led to a lawsuit that won her video tape royalties decades later.
We last saw Reese in 2008′s Four Christmases (has it been that long!?), and Nora Ephron (whom I love!) last directed Julie & Julia.
Gossip Girl co-stars Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr have reportedly reunited on the set of the hit TV show.
The pair, who began dating in 2008, were believed to have gone their separate ways in April. Szohr was rumored to have moved on with Sebastian Stan, the ex-boyfriend of her colleague Leighton Meester.
The reports were vehemently denied by her representative, and it seems Szohr is now back in Westwick’s arms – the pair was seen flirting as they checked into a hotel in Chicago after filming together in July.
According to the New York Daily News, the pair hooked up later in the hotel’s bar, with an onlooker saying, “They were taking shots. They’re definitely a couple. They were kissing and holding hands.”
His manager confirmed a Variety report that Johnston is planning to run for city office in his hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, as part of a reality TV show rumored to be called ‘Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office.’ Johnston plans to run for either for mayor or City Council. “People questioned Jesus Christ, so I definitely don’t care about these mere mortals questioning Levi Johnston,” his manager said (via RadarOnline.) “People can question whatever they want. I mean, he’s going to keep on doing his thing. He was going to do this, even if this wasn’t a reality show.”
“Let me put it to you like this: If you live in a town and things are happening in that town, and you’re displeased with it, what do you do? You try to change those things,” Jones said. He declined to give specifics on what Johnston wants to change but insisted the run is real. “This is not a spoof. This is not a joke,” his manager said.
According to the NYPost, Kelsey Grammer is not only in love with a young blonde, but he has possibly gotten her pregnant!
The “Frasier” star, who’s now starring in Broadway’s “La Cage Aux Folles,” was spotted holding hands in town this weekend with the woman, who sources tell us is British and is called Kate.
A source close to Grammer said, “He’s pushing for a quickie divorce because things are moving quickly with his new girlfriend. There is speculation that she is pregnant, but he wants to finalize the divorce before making any announcement.”
After his wife of 13 years, Camille Donatacci Grammer, filed for divorce just over five weeks ago, the star denied he was seeing someone else, writing on Twitter on July 5: “Certainly, the time will come when I do see another woman.”
Apparently Kelsey was spotted walking around NYC with this new blonde last week, and according to sources, she was sporting a bump. When the NYPost asked Kelsey’s rep about the new blonde he responded, “They are very happy together.” But asked about a possible pregnancy, the rep said, “Kelsey did not discuss it with me.”
The official trailer for Katie Holmes new movie The Romantics has been released! The movie, which also stars True Blood actress Anna Paquin, and Josh Duhamel will be released on September 10th!
Over the course of one raucous night at a seaside wedding seven close friends, all members of a tight, eclectic college clique, reconvene to watch two of their own tie the knot. Laura (Katie Holmes) is maid of honor to Lila (Anna Paquin), her golden girl best friend. The two have long rivaled over the groom, Tom (Josh Duhamel). Friendships and alliances are tested and the love triangle comes to a head the night before the wedding, when the drunken friends frolic in the nearby surf and return to shore… without the groom. Based on the heralded novel by producer, novelist, director Galt Niederhoffer, THE ROMANTICS is a Zeitgeist love story and generational comedy that breathes new life into the genre and recaptures the camaraderie of youth.
I can’t wait! I think this looks great, which is saying a lot, since I don’t usually like anything Katie Holmes does.
Actor Jonathan Schaech and One Tree Hill actress Jana Kramer have split after only a little more than a month of marriage.
The couple got engaged in 2009 and were married Fourth of July weekend in Michigan.
Jana’s rep Janice Lee tells Life & Style, “Jana and Johnathon have agreed to dissolve their marriage. Jana is humbled by the outpouring of support from her fans, friends and family, and appreciates the respect of her privacy.”
Why did the couple call it quits so quickly?
A source close to Jana tells Life & Style exclusively, “Jana is a good 14 years younger than Johnathon. She moved in with him within six months or less of dating. She really didn’t like living there. It was his bachelor pad and just not enough space for the both of them.”
This is the second failed marriage for Johnathon. In 2007 he divorced Samantha Who star Christina Applegate, who recently announced that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Martyn Lenoble.
