Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie accepted undisclosed damages Thursday in London’s High Court to settle a privacy claim against a British tabloid that had reported they were planning to split.
The celebrity couple began legal action against the News of the World after it reported in January that they had agreed to separate. The pair argued the newspaper had made false and intrusive allegations in saying that they had planned to divide assets worth 205 million pounds ($320 million) and had made arrangements regarding the custody of their six children.
“When the News of the World failed to publicly retract the allegations and apologize for them — thereby leaving their readers in the dark as to the true position — the couple felt they had no alternative than to sue,” the couple’s attorney, Keith Schilling, said in a statement. “Today’s victory marks the end of the litigation brought by Brad and Angelina.”
The newspaper confirmed that a settlement had been reached, but declined to comment further.
The movie star couple did not attend the hearing.

Jennifer Aniston, 41, has one of the best bodies in Hollywood, and according to the actress, it’s not easy being beautiful.
“It’s simple,” she told the Daily Mirror at the London launch of her eponymous perfume in London on Wednesday. “[I] run, work out every day. I do a lot of running — exercise is so important.”
The single actress added, “Plus it’s all about balance. Work, exercise, diet, you need balance.”

Aniston suggested that her fame helps keep her motivated, too.”I am, perhaps, fortunate in that my career, the public awareness it brings, gives me a certain freedom in this way. But, of course, there are positives and negatives in any career, it’s not all going to be perfect.”

Gossip Cop is reporting that just before Lindsay Lohan turned herself in to serve her jail sentence, she met with Vanity Fair and granted them an interview, and sat for a cover shoot. The photo shoot took place on Lindsay’s birthday, July 2, on what was once Judy Garland’s yacht.
A source says the shoot by Norman Jean Roy was “amazing,” and comprises “some of the most beautiful photos of Lindsay” ever taken.
Lohan was dressed in an evening gown, which covered her SCRAM bracelet, and looks like a glamorous movie star from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Apparently the article was planned quite some time ago, and was supposed to be centered around the September release of her movie, Machete. There was some suspicion that once Lindsay was sentenced to jail she would back out of the interview, but she didn’t! Lohan spoke candidly about her life, including her current legal predicament.

Former Saved By The Bell star Tiffani Thiessen is thankful her newborn daughter is fit and healthy after a nightmare birth.
The actress and her husband Brady Smith welcomed their first child, Harper Renn Smith, in June, but Thiessen reveals her smooth pregnancy turned complicated as soon as she went into labor. The baby girl was delivered by Cesarean section after 30 hours in a Los Angeles hospital and the star admits the tiring process was “very surreal”.
She says, “First my water didn’t break; they had to do it for me. Then the baby wasn’t descending, because the cord was wrapped around her neck. Once she was finally out, I didn’t even get to hold her before they whisked her away. You’re staring across the room, like, ‘Hello? Over here!’ The whole thing was very surreal.”
Thiessen, who introduces the world to little Harper in a photo-shoot for this week’s People magazine, insists home life with her daughter has been much less dramatic and she’s still marveling at her bundle of joy.
She says, “She sleeps anywhere from three to four hours at a time at night, which is not bad. It’s a lot of work. This is a kind of love that you never really knew about. You haven’t known this person for very long, but you love them so much.” Thiessen and Smith wed in 2005.
