The son of former Nightline news anchor Ted Koppel has been found dead in a New York City apartment, police said.

Andrew Koppel, 40, was declared dead around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after police responded to a 911 call, Det. Joseph Cavitolo told TVGuide.com. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death, he said.

Koppel, who worked for the city’s Housing Attorney, had been drinking all day Monday in a Hell’s Kitchen bar, where he befriended a stranger, Russell Wimberly, the New York Post reported.

The two drank all day — Koppel drank straight whiskey — and did not eat anything, Wimberly, 32, told the Post, before they arrived at the Washington Heights apartment owned by Wimberly’s friend, Belinda Caban, 53, around 11 p.m. Wimberly said he and Caban put Koppel to bed and called 911 a few hours later when he appeared to be not breathing.

Police will not comment on the Post’s report, Cavitolo said.

Andrew Koppel, who lived in Queens with his girlfriend and baby daughter, was one of Ted Koppel’s four children with his wife, Grace Anne. A call to Ted Koppel’s rep was not immediately returned. Wimberly and Caban could not be located for comment.

It was already reported that online queen Tila Tequila and MTV reality star Jason Wahler had signed on for the newest installment of Celebrity Rehab, but apparently producers are having a hard time filling the rest of the show!

The show was supposed to begin filming today, but apparently they were short a few train wrecks! Producers are having a hard time finding a star with a big enough addiction problem to headline the show. Yes, Tila is pretty good – but not as good as past patients Dennis Rodman, Tom Sizemore, Mindy McCready and Heidi Fleiss.

TMZ is reporting that producers offered Lindsay Lohan $1 million AND her own show, but Lindsay turned them down. While that would be highly entertaining, and a sure-hit…Lindsay said no. Probably smart on her part, Celebrity Rehab hasn’t been good for anyone’s career in the past.

I’m not sure why they insist on filming Celebrity Rehab anyway. Doesn’t seem like Dr. Drew has any real success with cleaning these poor people up. The whole show just seems wrong, in my opinion. I don’t think we should be entertained by other people’s addiction problems. I get really uncomfortable when I watch it.

Although – if Lindsay were on, I’d probably watch. Which is I’m sure why they offered her $1 million. Everyone would have to tune in – at least once – and see what Miss Lindsay was up to.

Look how normal they look! This is before Heidi became Frakenstein, and Spencer lost his mind. Ahhh, the good ol’ days.

According to sources, Spencer Pratt has moved out of the home he shares with wife, Heidi Montag in Pacific Palisades, CA. Spencer’s “crazy behavior” drove Heidi over the edge. In the last several month, Heidi feels that Spencer’s behavior has cost her all of her friends, and alienated her from her family.

Spencer’s family and friends began to fear that he had lost his mind. He was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on crystals, and apparently had been holding Heidi hostage in her own home. It’s no wonder she left him!

But it’s hard to say – with the two of them – if this is for real, or if this is yet another publicity stunt.

While RadarOnline’s sources claim the split is legit, TMZ is thinking this split has something to do with the upcoming reality show that Heidi will soon be filming in Malibu. TMZ claims that while they have split, Heidi’s not interested in filing for divorce… just yet.

Heidi will be staying with friend Jennifer Bunney while she films her reality show this summer. Some think she’s not going to file for divorce until The Hills has finished filming, but that seems unlikely to me. If she were going to file for divorce, something tells me she’d do it in front of a camera.
