Many are shocked that despite all of his health scares (which in the past few months have included an appendectomy, brain hemorrhage, a warning stoke, and a hole in his heart), Bret Michaels is back on the road. Touring and giving the fans the best of what he is capable to offer. Here is what Bret had to say on the matter.
“I think this is good for my soul,” Michaels said in a phone interview Thursday from his latest concert stop in Minneapolis. “Honestly, I’m taking every precaution. I’m not doing anything stupid. I’m going on stage and telling the fans that I’m going to give 100 percent of everything I’ve got, but if it’s only 75 or 80 percent, I think they will understand.”
“I don’t want my legacy to be that I had a brain hemorrhage,” said Michaels. “I want it to be that I rocked, I treated people with respect and I made a lot of good friends along the way. I think that came back to me when I got sick. I truly believe if you’re a good person, and you spread love, then that love will come back to you.”
“At the moment, I can’t throw-down like I would like to,” said Michaels.
Michaels who is listening to doctors by resting before and after shows, staying away from alcohol, exercising, and taking blood thinners.
He has also premiered his new show on VH1 “Life As I Know It,”. It will focus on Michaels’ relationship with his 2 daughters, Raine and Jorja, and their mother, Kristi Lynn Gibson, Michaels’ on-again-off-again girlfriend. So be sure to check it out on VH1.
Some say Bret is rushing things and should slow down. But I totally understand what he is going through. Sometimes the best medicine and only medicine is to do what you love. It can cure you faster than anything or if you are deprived of it, then the opposite can happen. I believe his best medicine is to keep playing music. Keep rockin’ Bret!
