Hot director Robert Rodriguez may have taken a gamble by hiring wild child Lindsay Lohan, 23 — for what some are calling a last-chance role — in the upcoming film Machete, which also stars Robert De Niro.
But the director claims the troubled star is a victim of bad press: “Lindsay isn’t any different from any girl her age,” says Rodriguez.
“She has the same problems that a lot of our daughters have, but she’s in the public eye all the time. I’ve seen them carry some other girl the same age out of that same club and nobody cares a damn.”

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag appear to have an idyllic home life on The Hills. But now, for the first time, a frequent visitor to the couple’s house reveals the truth: that Heidi is being virtually held hostage there! “Heidi has been allowed to leave the house only three times in the last month,” the insider tells Life & Style. And Spencer’s even moved a guard into the house. “He’s let one of his new friends, a former Marine named Paul “Cougar” Zank, move in with them. He’s staying in the guest room,” a second insider says. “Heidi’s upset about it, but Spencer doesn’t care.”
The insider shares frightening never-before-seen photos of their actual home far from Hollywood in LA’s Pacific Palisades area. The kitchen and living room are filled with Spencer’s crystals, stacks of his screenplays and junk everywhere. “Their four dogs aren’t housebroken,” an insider tells Life & Style. “They go to the bathroom all over the house. Heidi is sometimes near tears at the dogs’ mess, but Spencer just orders her to pick it up.”
“It’s true, I do have a Marine in the house,” Spencer tells Life & Style. “He’s helping me write a script. And yes, we’ve been out of the house only three times this month, but that’s because I’m busy working on several business ventures.”
Today it emerged that he had turned down a host of lucrative deals to work as a TV pundit because he hopes to perform a job for England coach Fabio Capello.
The 35-year-old sportsman, who was today pictured arriving at Heathrow Airport from his Los Angeles base, had been flooded with offers from the BBC, ITV, ESPN and TV stations from South America, South Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
But it seems Becks has decided to put his country before his bank balance, freeing himself up to do what’s needed in the England camp.
His exact duties will depend on the discussions he has with England manager Fabio Capello – but the veteran former captain, with more than 100 caps to his name, is popular among the squad and could provide an A-list morale boost.
Capello has said he believes Beckham can be ‘an important man in the dressing room’ despite his injury.
