A very slim Jennifer Hudson and her upcoming costar Terrence Howard appeared at a cocktail reception at the Terrazza Martini tent along the Croisette at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival Sunday. They were in town to promote their upcoming biopic, Winnie, which chronicles the life of Nelson Mandela’s controversial ex-wife and begins shooting May 31 in South Africa.

Juan-Carlos Cruz, the former Food Network chef under arrest for a plot to murder his wife, allegedly planned to have three homeless men carry out the job. TMZ reports Cruz planned to pay the men with $1,000 in torn-up $100 bills — half before the murder, half after.

“Have already been burned with whole bills then no show thats why do it this way,” reads a text message TMZ contends was sent from Cruz to a phone provided for the homeless men. Cruz also texted that he had a second party ready for the job if his selected hit-men weren’t up to the task.

The former ‘Calorie Commando’ and ‘Weighing In’ host was arrested Thursday in Santa Monica, California.

Cruz was under investigation since May 7, and was finally taken into custody after an undercover operation in which the homeless men he attempted to hire recorded a conversation implicated him. TMZ interviewed the homeless men involved, who said that Cruz wanted them to strangle his wife “because stabbing leaves too much blood. He didn’t want a mess.”

According to TMZ, Cruz plans on pleading not guilty to the charges.

Cruz is currently being held on a $5 million bail stemming from a charge of solicitation to commit murder following his arrest last week.

A Food Network executive told CBS News that Cruz and his wife — Jennifer Campbell, his high school sweetheart — “had always seemed so harmonious that I couldn’t imagine he would have anything like that going on. … It’s hard for me to believe that the guy who was there cooking and helping people lose weight could end up in a terrible situation like this.”

Lindsay Lohan might be due in court on Thursday in Los Angeles, according to TMZ, but that didn’t stop the starlet from heading to Cannes this weekend.

The 23-year-old arrived in Cannes, France on Sunday reportedly to promote her upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to TMZ, the starlet has completed nine of her 13 required traffic school classes ordered by a judge. The judge could reportedly rule that she is in violation of probation on Thursday if she does not complete the four remaining classes.

On Sunday night, she was reportedly spotted at a restaurant called La Colombe D’or and also seen leaving a luxury yacht in the marina of Cannes.

There’s been no word on when Lindsay plans on returning stateside.

Lindsay Lohan “threw a fit” last night in a New York City club, tossing a drink into a model’s face, according to a New York Post source. The model was with New York Rangers player Aaron Voros.

Voros, his girlfriend, and Rangers teammate Sean Avery were seated at a prime table at club 10ak. Lohan “wanted to be at their table near the DJ,” one of the Post’s multiple witnesses reports. LiLo didn’t want to sit with Voros, alleging he was her ex-boyfriend and she didn’t want him near her.

Voros denied knowing Lohan, pushing her over the edge to throw a drink into his model girlfriend’s face. Lohan demanded the entire table be moved out. Bouncers refused her and Lohan left shortly after.

“There was total drama for absolutely no reason,” a Post source said.
