After nearly nine years together, Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are done.

“Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated,” a rep for the singer tells UsMagazine.com.

“We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period,” the duo note in a statement.

Singer Melissa, 48, and actress Tammy (whose former name was Tammy Lynn Michaels), 35, exchanged marital vows in Malibu, Calif. in September 2003.

Using an anonymous sperm donor, Tammy gave birth to their twins — son Miller and daughter Rose — in October 2006. Melissa survived a bout with breast cancer that began in 2004.

Grammy-winner Etheridge has two older children (Bailey, 13, and Beckett, 11) with former partner Julie Cypher. Their father is longtime friend David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash.

In an interview with About.com, Tammy gushed about her girlfriend’s surprise proposal:

“I was like life-stoppingly shocked. We cried! We sobbed…she had the ring made and everything. She picked out the diamond. She’s like one of those romantics that you watch on TV.”

After learning of her husband Charlie Sheen’s recent cheating scandal, Brooke Mueller is so fed up that she wants to leave him.

“Brooke is now seriously considering divorce,” a close friend of Brooke’s tells In Touch. On this week’s cover of In Touch, the Two and Half Men star was caught cheating on his wife — in disguise — with lingerie model (and paid escort) Angelina Tracy while he was supposed to be in rehab treatment.

“Brooke is not surprised by anything Charlie does at this point — she is doing what she needs to do to be a good mother to Max and Bob, and she can’t control what Charlie does,” adds Brooke’s friend. “She is in a really good place right now, and her main concern is the kids.”

Brooke and Charlie married in 2008 and have 13-month-old twin boys together. The two both sought professional treatment after Charlie allegedly held a knife to Brooke’s throat during a heated argument in Aspen, Colo., in December.

After an emotional goodbye to soap star Aiden Turner on Tuesday’s Dancing With The Stars, Kate Gosselin and partner Tony Dovolani told People they have found more than their tango to bond over: It’s difficult for both to be away from their kids.

Dovolani says that traveling between L.A. and Pennsylvania, where Gosselin lives and rehearses, has meant that he only sees his daughter Luana, 4, and twins Adrian and Ariana, 2, for a couple of hours a week. “It’s not easy,” says the dancer, whose wife Lina stays at home in Connecticut. “I can talk to my daughter on the phone … I don’t quite understand all the conversations we have, but as long as she hears my voice, she’s knows I’m there.”

The silver lining: parents who sympathize may be key to their success. “I think it’s moms and women,” Gosselin says of their supporters. “The fan base is [ages] 2 to 102. I imagine it’s people who believe in me more than I believe in myself. And the people who think Tony is good looking and love his abs!”
