Oprah Winfrey is expanding her TV empire by launching a new rehab TV series, about people who suffer from compulsive eating disorders.

Inside Rehab will air on the TV queen’s new U.S. cable network, OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.

The one-hour documentary series will follow one group of patients as they undergo an intensive 42-day recovery program.

Network executives say the program “gives viewers a rare look inside an eating disorder treatment facility where patients face their demons and struggle to come to terms with what’s behind the food. This is what happens after the intervention”

The OWN network is projected to launch in 2011.

Usher has accused TV talent shows of killing the music industry.

Just weeks after the singer appeared as a mentor on the current season of American Idol, Usher has blasted the show and its rivals for making talented singers celebrities and then casting them aside.

He says, “The true art form of music is being lost, because it seems so easy that everyone can do it, and that it can happen overnight. Television is a lie. It can’t happen overnight. The artist who thinks that it can just comes and goes. The reason why great singers cannot exist in this time is maybe because they’re not properly managed, and maybe they don’t understand the full gamut of what being an entertainer is.

“We’re dealing with an industry that is slowly but surely dying, every day. There’s the record companies that are mass-producing these versions of these people; versions of this broken art. While it works, because it sells records, it damages the business.”

Paris Hilton is seemingly set to relaunch her pop career.

The 29-year-old socialite met up with acclaimed songwriter Linda Perry – who is responsible for Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’ and Gwen Stefani’s ‘What You Waiting For?’, among other tracks – sparking speculation she is planning a follow-up to her 2006 LP ‘Paris’.

Paris revealed the news on twitter, writing: “Went and visited Linda Perry at her studio. She is so cool and her studio is incredible. I respect her so much as a producer, what a talent.”

‘Stars Are Blind’, the first single from ‘Paris’, was an international smash hit upon its release, reaching the top five in the British, Italian, Swedish and Canadian charts.

Even Lady Gaga admitted she was a fan of the song.

She said: “I always thought that ‘Stars Are Blind’ was one of the greatest records ever. Quite honestly it was a great pop record.”

Paris previously admitted she would like to work with the ‘Telephone’ hitmaker on some new music.

She said: “Anything we do will be a surprise, so you can’t know about it.”

Paris recently got some musical inspiration at the Coachella Music Festival in California, and “rocked out” to acts including Gorillaz and David Guetta.

She wrote on twitter: “So much fun tonite! Rocked it out to Tomm Yorke and the Gorillaz! So sick!! Loves it!

“Raged on the stage at MGMT then David Guetta and now am rocking to Muse. Best spot in the house! Huge! Coachella Rocks… Jay Z was amazing! So much fun with my sis and all my girls! (sic)”

Scarlett Johansson is interested in playing Courtney Love in a Kurt Cobain biopic.

The ‘Iron Man 2′ actress says she would be keen to play the part of Kurt’s wife in the film, after hearing Courtney herself was interested in her taking on the job.

Scarlett told MTV News: “I know that there is a script. That’s as much as I know about it. I’m a big fan of Courtney’s and I think she’s very, very talented. But I don’t know anything about the project.

“It would be a challenge, definitely would be a challenge. I think the idea is interesting and intriguing, but I would have to really wrap my head around it.”

A source recently confirmed Courtney’s desire for Scarlett to play her in the movie, which has the working title ‘All Apologies’.

The insider said: “She is adamant Scarlett will play her. Scarlett is friendly with Frances Bean, her daughter with Kurt.”

Courtney recently dismissed rumors she wanted Robert Pattinson to play the Nirvana rocker – who shot himself in April 1994 – in the movie as “stupid”.

She said: “Isn’t that so stupid, who would cast him? That’s just wrong, no offense. I watched the ‘Twilight’ stuff very, very recently and I get it, it resonates with the teenage girl in me, I understand epic love of that nature; I write about it all the time. But isn’t that silly?”

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has said she’s happy for her relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth to be public knowledge.

The pair play the romantic lead roles in new film The Last Song and the 17-year-old has no problem with it being in the spotlight.

“I think it makes it easier,” she said. “I’ve been in relationships before where people don’t want people to know because it’s bad for their career (but) I’d rather not sneak around – it’s so much more drama than is necessary.

“It’s like, ‘Yes, we’re together. Let us live our lives’. It’s easier because you’re not trying to sneak around, otherwise it’s news everytime you’re seen together.”

However, Cyrus did admit their relationship was still in the early stages when they had to shoot some of the film’s romantic scenes: “You’ve got to be super-pro. No one really knew we were together at the time so we just kept it professional.”

The Last Song is about a girl who spends the summer with her divorced dad in a quiet beach town. And among other twists and turns ends up getting together with Hemsworth’s character, Will.

The star was disappointed to miss the European premiere of the movie because of the ash cloud, but says that concentrating on her big screen career is where her priorities now lie.

“I had such a good time and it inspired me to do more, so definitely I want to do more films,” said the Nashville-born actress and singer.

Cyrus admits picking her roles carefully though, so not to alienate the younger fans who know her from Disney’s hit Hannah Montana series.
