Marie Osmond’s Son Commits Suicide

Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son Michael Blosil committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of his L.A. apartment building Friday night, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.
A rep for Marie Osmond released the following statement to UsMagazine.com Saturday afternoon:”My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time.” Marie’s brother Donny told Entertainment Tonight, “Please pray for my sister and her family.”
Michael was one of eight children, and reportedly suffered “severe depression” throughout his life. The troubled young man left a despondent note explaining his decision to take his own life, ET reports. He entered a rehab facility at age 16 in 2007.
Marie and Donny Osmond’s Las Vegas show was cancelled for Saturday night.
Update: L.A. County Coroner Investigator Jim Blacklock told UsMagazine.com that the the autopsy has not yet occurred, and that “that case is still under investigation.” Blosil’s death has a “security hold” on it, Blacklock explained — which means that few details will be released to the public at this time.
On Sunday, TMZ reported new alleged details about the note that Blosil — who suffered from depression throughout his life — left behind for a female friend and neighbor shortly before his death.
The website reports that Blosil had plans to spend time with his friend on Friday evening; but at the last minute, he texted the woman just before 9 p.m., alerting her to a note he’d left for her at his apartment.
His friend and his roommates apparently found the note together. Noting his overall unhappiness, the missive to woman said she was his only friend in the city, and listed things he planned on doing for the last time.
Immediately concerned, Blosil’s friend and his roommates then heard sirens outside and saw emergency vehicles pulling up in front of their building. Blosil’s body was found shortly thereafter, TMZ claims.
TMZ also reports that Blosil’s friends told police that he was clean and sober at the time of his death — but had attempted to commit suicide at least once before.
Adopted by the star and her second husband Brian Blosil (they divorced in 2007), Michael was the fifth of Marie Osmond’s eight children. “My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time,” Osmond, 50, said in a statement Saturday.
