Latest Update on Corey Haim from TMZ

Corey Haim collapsed in the bedroom of his mother’s apartment and four prescription bottles were found nearby … law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

We’ve learned Corey had been sick the last couple of days with flu-like symptoms. The medications recovered, however, were not related to his illness, sources tell TMZ.

We’re told no illicit drugs were found in the apartment.

Sources say Haim got out of bed just before 1 AM and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911 at 12:53 AM and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 AM.

Corey’s mom told authorities he had been battling prescription drug addiction for years.

Authorities believe — though are not certain — Corey died of an accidental drug overdose.

UPDATE: We’re told the LAPD has wrapped up their preliminary investigation and it’s now in the coroner’s hands.

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler’s Steamy W Magazine Cover Revealed!

‘The Bounty Hunter’ co-stars Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston get down and dirty — seriously dirty — in the desert for a new photoshoot in W.

In the magazine’s huge layout, Gerard plays lawman while Jen struts around in some sexy lingerie.

The on-screen collaboration of the rumored off-screen couple, which hits theaters March 19, follows Butler’s bounty hunter as he tries to bring his ex, played by Aniston, to jail.

Hair stylist to the ‘Friends’ star, Chris McMillan, talked to the magazine about Jen’s hair for this shoot.

“We left her hair dirty. It just created a nice chunky texture. The key to Jennifer’s hair is no matter what you do with it — straight, frizzy, dirty — it looks like it actually grows out of her head. She’s someone for whom her hair doesn’t wear her, she wears it,” he describes.

McMillan makes no apologies for the different side of Aniston people will see in W.

“They’re going to be talking s**t as usual, but who cares? We don’t care about that,” he says.

I’ll post the 7 page picture spread from inside the magazine when I can find it!

BREAKING NEWS: Corey Haim Dead at 38 of Apparent Drug Overdose

Corey Haim, the former teen idol who rose to fame in 1980s classics ‘The Lost Boys,’ ‘Lucas’ and ‘License to Drive,’ died Wednesday morning of an apparent drug overdose in Burbank, Calif., the LAPD has confirmed to several media outlets. He was 38. Local news station KTLA is reporting that Haim was found in an Oakwood, Calif., apartment, and that his mother was at the home at the time emergency responders arrived. TMZ is reporting that police were later called to the hospital to investigate.

Coroner Lt. Cheryl MacWillie told reporters that Haim died at 2:15 a.m. at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.

Canadian-born Haim rose to fame in the 1980s as a child actor. His breakout role was in the critically-acclaimed 1986 film ‘Lucas,’ where he played a nerdy and skinny student looking to prove himself on a high school football team. He later went on to star in major commercial hits like the vampire movie ‘The Lost Boys,’ ‘License to Drive’ and ‘Dream a Little Dream.’

Like many child actors, Haim’s transition from kid to adult wasn’t easy, and the actor’s career — and self-esteem — faltered over the years.

Most of his films since the 1990s have been direct-to-video and low budget sequels to other well-known films. In 1997, he filed for bankruptcy and spent the next decade in and out of rehab for drug addiction. He reportedly suffered a drug-related stroke in 2001. In a 2004 interview, Haim said he began drinking in 1985 and a year later tried his first joint. From there, things went from bad to worse.

“I lived in Los Angeles in the ’80s, which was not the best place to be,” he said. “I did cocaine for about a year and a half, then it led to crack.”

After that, he claimed to have been hooked on pills, and was at one point taking up to 85 a day. “The doctors could not believe I was taking that much,” he told The Sun. “And that was just the Valium — I’m not talking about the other pills I went through.”

Most recently, Haim’s troubled relationship with fellow ’80s teen star Corey Feldman was documented in the A&E reality show ‘The Two Coreys.’ During the show, Haim’s substance abuse was often a recurring problem between the two actors. After taping the show in 2008, Feldman cut ties with Haim over his personal problems.

“I don’t feel that he’s a safe person to have around my wife and child at the moment, for a multitude of reasons,” Feldman told PEOPLE at the time.

Last year, Haim famously took out a full-page ad in Variety aimed at getting his career back on track. The ad read: “This is not a stunt. I’m back. I’m ready to make amends. I’m ready to work.” He then scored a role in ‘Crank 2′ alongside Jason Statham, and spoke to TV Guide about his new role. “I’m loving it, and … I just want to work, and that’s what I’m doing, thank God, on stuff I want to do,” he said.

Hilary Duff adds author to her resume

Hilary Duff is more than just a actress — the former Disney star is adding author to her repertoire. Hilary has landed a book deal with Simon & Schuster, the publishing house confirmed today. What genre will Lizzie Maguire try her hand at?

The 22-year-old starlet will be writing young adult novels, E! News reports, with the first in her series, Elixir, set for release on Oct. 12. The 416-page book will follow globe-trotting photojournalist Clea Raymond.

What a start!

Hilary does not plan to be a one hit wonder. She will pen follow up the novel with a nonfiction book geared toward children dealing with divorce.

That book is due out in 2012.

NHL hunk Mike Comrie proposed to Hilary last month while the couple was vacationing in Hawaii.

Paris Hilton crowned ‘Worst Actress of the Decade’

Jetsetting celebutard Paris Hilton has deservingly secured a special Razzie for Worst Actress of the Decade – acknowledging her contribution to cinema in works such as The Hottie and the Nottie, House of Wax and Repo – The Genetic Opera.

The honor came on Saturday at the Gala 30th Annual Razzie Awards, where Eddie Murphy was similarly crowned worst actor of the last ten years. Those unfortunate enough to have paid good money to see Meet Dave or Norbit will find this decision hard to argue with.

Battlefield Earth was named Worst Picture of the Decade, and it’s fair to say that the film’s only redeeming feature is that the cast doesn’t include Paris Hilton or Eddie Murphy.

The 2009 list of shame, meanwhile, shows that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen marked a new high for “The Boy Blunder of Blow-‘em-Ups”, Michael Bay. The movie took Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Picture awards.

Sandra Bullock had quite a weekend, picking up Worst Actress Razzie for All About Steve followed in close order by top thespiatrix Oscar for The Blind Side.

No such luck for the three Jonas Brothers, who’ll have to make do with a mere Razzie for their leading performance in Jonas Brothers: The 3-D Concert Experience.

Academy: Farrah Fawcett omission was ‘not an oversight’

Ryan O’Neal says he can’t believe the decision by the Academy Awards to omit Farrah Fawcett from the “In Memoriam” segment of Sunday’s show.

“It was a terrible decision and very hurtful,” O’Neal tells Radar Online. “Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention.” Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy were included in the segment.

O’Neal says he watched the show with daughter Tatum, and they plan to protest. “Both Tatum and I were very upset and we intend to write a letter to the Academy to try and get an explanation for this oversight on their behalf.”

Leslie Unger, a rep for the Academy, tells Radar that “unfortunately we don’t include everyone.” She told E!, it was “not an oversight.”

Katy Perry is going to be Smurfette

Brace yourself. They are making a Smurfs movie. Yep. And Katy Perry has signed on as former Gargamel plant gone good girl Smurfette, whom we must assume was somewhat responsible for Baby Smurf, although that mystery is never truly resolved. Also on board: Alan Cumming, who’s playing Gutsy Smurf. What? Come on, he was born to play Vanity Smurf.

Neil Patrick Harris will play an undisclosed live-action character who has to be Gargamel. I’m in the rare category of people who never liked the smurfs because I thought they were annoying and nowhere as endearing as their deep sea counterparts, The Snorks. Plus, I resented their portrayal of cats as evil.

Perry and her fiance, Russell Brand, made it to the Vanity Fair post Oscars party, where she showed up in a totally amazing awesome dress, although she desperately needed a necklace to distract from the long stretch between her neck and her surprisingly large, kind of heading south breasts. She also had a bit of an oops moment when she cursed while being interviewed for a British program that was being aired live. Fortunately, Britain’s come a long way since the days of kicking in telly sets over Johnny Rotten’s filthy mouth, so they probably won’t be burning her in effigy.
