Kate Gosselin — who makes her Dancing With the Stars debut tonight — is beginning to wonder why she agreed to hit the dance floor in the first place.
“I wake up in a cold sweat every night,” the mother of eight, 34, tells USA Today. “What have I signed up for?”
Gosselin, who has zero dance experience, has been practicing with partner Tony Dovolani on a makeshift dance floor in the basement of her family’s Wernersville, Pa., home.
“Never danced in public,” she says. “It’s a huge fear.” Overall, her goal is “to conquer my fear of dancing. It’s hugely scary.”
Her toughest competition? “Me. I struggle with perfection,” she says. “While it’s fun, I’m frustrated. Tony has to tell me to stop being so hard on myself.”
So far, she’s had no major ailments, but she says: “There’s a sharp pain behind my right rib.”
Last week, Gosselin denied rumors she was being a diva on the Los Angeles set and defended her decision to do the show (critics have said she should be spending more time at home with her kids).
Gosselin said doing the show and being a mom is “a delicate balance” and that she is usually dancing “before [the kids] are up in the morning or at school.”
She added, “I’m making the best of it.”

Unlike Kristen Stewart, who met her boyfriend Robert Pattinson on set, Miley Cyrus doesn’t hold back from talking openly about how her co-star Liam Hemsworth became her boyfriend while filming The Last Song.
Miley dropped by Good Morning America on Monday to promote her new film The Last Song, but she mainly discussed how it was working with her now boyfriend Liam.
“It was really good [working with Liam], because it makes you want to come to work and… look good,” Miley explained. “I’m trying to make people see my work as a real actress and more mature. And when you have someone who loves you and wants you to do well, you really want to help each other, and you want to make each other look good. We both were trying to get our point across [that] we can do more than [what people know us as].”
Miley’s story on how their relationship came about is almost as cute as passing a note during class and asking a boy to check yes or no if they like you! She used her on-screen younger brother, Bobby Coleman to see if Liam liked her!
“He is probably one of the most hysterical kids I’ve met in my life,” Miley said. “This kid will do anything for five bucks. By the end he literally had a receipt for me. It was like $80. I paid him 10 bucks to go ask Liam if he liked me. I sent him back and forth. It was really funny.”
The Last Song hits theaters this March 31.

Michael Vartan is thrilled to have a new alias: groom-to-be.
“I’m very blessed. I’m very happy,” Vartan, 41, tells People of his recent engagement to Lauren Skaar. The actor popped the question two weeks ago after a year of dating.
Vartan says he’s not sure exactly when he knew Skaar, who works in real estate, was “the one,” but he’s absolutely certain now.
“I know that I know, and I’m sure that I’m sure,” he says. “It’s that thing people always say: ‘When you know, you’ll know.’ I never really understood what that meant, and I do now.”
He adds: “We’ve only known each other for a little more than a year, but I literally cannot imagine my life without her. It’s crazy. It’s wonderful.”
That said, the couple’s in no rush to the altar. How long before the big day? “Ten years,” laughs Vartan. “No, I’m kidding. There’s no rules. We’ll play it by ear, but maybe a year. Enjoy the engagement, then see what happens.”
Vartan, who previously starred in ABC’s spy series Alias and currently appears in TNT’s Hawthorne, hit the red carpet Saturday at the 24th annual Genesis Awards, honoring Hollywood’s animal-friendly efforts, at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
He was pleased to report that his and Skaar’s dogs – he had two, she had one – have been cohabitating harmoniously as well. “Smooth as silk,” he chuckled. “It’s very nice.”

Shannen Doherty chatted with Ryan Seacrest this morning on his KIIS FM radio show, and she was a bundle of nerves! “I feel so sick,” Shannen told Ryan as she was driving to the Dancing with the Stars studio. The 38-year-old actress dished on why she finally said yes to the hit reality show, and being part of the most drama-filled cast yet (as she and Pamela Anderson share an ex)!
“I’m driving there at the moment, and I don’t know what I’m going to do about this. My stomach is a mess. I’m like, ‘I can’t. I can’t. I can’t.’ I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Shannen — who breaks out in hives in front of live audiences — told Ryan about her debut on the DWTS stage tonight.
The former 90210 bad girl will be performing the Vietnamese Waltz on tonight’s premiere with partner Mark Ballas. She said she finds the dance difficult because she’s “not the most graceful girl in the world… more of a sports girl.”
“There is a lot of pressure there, because he [Mark] has had great partners in the past and won twice, and I don’t want to let him down,” she said of her partner. “I adore him.”
So what provoked Shannen to say yes and surmount her fear of live audiences?
“On Christmas, my dad had a massive stroke, and he lost his ability to speak and a lot of his mobility,” Shannen reveals. “It was really rough. When I mentioned Dancing With the Stars as a joke because I’m so nervous in front of a live audience, he got really excited…and we kind of struck a deal.”
“He is going to go in there and work really hard on regaining his speech and mobility, and I was going to get over my fear of a live audience.”
Shannen definitely joined the cast for the right reasons, and we can’t wait to see her compete!
Who is her biggest competition?
“I think Nicole [Scherzinger] is amazing,” Shannen said. “Not only is she really, really nice but she is a dancer.”
“I think Evan being an ice skater is going to do fantastic.”
Shannen did admit she is part of one of the most-talked about casts in DWTS history.
Shannen and fellow competitor Pamela Anderson were married to the same guy, film producer Rick Solomon, and both had their marriages annulled.
When Ryan questioned Shannen about their relationship on set, she responded that they were friendly, and Pam is working very hard.
Shannen has yet to meet Kate Gosselin, so could not comment on her demeanor on set!
Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. for the premiere of DWTS on ABC.

Ahhh, the perils of fame. You’re only 16, received a new car for a birthday present, and are adored by fans all over the world. Such is life for singing sensation Justin Bieber.
In London to promote his new single Baby and album My World 2.0, the singer appeared on GMTV, where he answered questions from fans about everything from the first song he learned (“Row, Row, Row Your Boat”) to his love life.
Bieber revealed he’s been asked to get hitched “a bunch of times,” and even though he may not be walking down the aisle anytime soon, his fans – many of whom were waiting for him at the TV studios – still have a chance of landing a date with the young hunk. Asked if he would go out with one of them, he said, “I think that it just depends – it depends what the situation is. I think that I’m not going to limit myself.”
One thing is for sure: Bieber’s mom won’t have to act as chauffeur on any of his dates: “I got a Range Rover for my birthday,” he said on the show.
The black SUV was a gift from his management team, and Bieber explained there was a good reason it wasn’t your normal starter-car. “They wanted a bigger car so if I got in an accident I’m not going to get as hurt,” he said with a smile.
Bieber fans hoping to get close to the singer will likely be on the hunt for one of the golden tickets hidden in My World 2.0, which hits stores March 23. Prizes include a chance to appear in one of his upcoming videos and a trip to his June 12 concert at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.
He kicks off his North American tour in Hartford, Conn., June 23.
