Does Gabourey Sidibe need to lose weight to gain roles?
Gabby Sidibe’s performance in Precious earned her an Oscar nomination for best actress this year amongst Sandra Bullock, who called her “exquisite” during her acceptance speech, and Meryl Streep, making her a top star. But, PopEater reports that industry insiders are saying Gabby will need to lose weight if she wants to stay at the top.
“I’m not saying it’s correct, but it’s a simple fact that she will have to lose a lot of weight if she wants to keep getting parts,” a casting director told PopEater. “The same thing happened to Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray. Everyone said how great she was, and she hasn’t worked since.”
Friends of Gabby say she doesn’t feel pressure, but also point out that parts aren’t exactly being thrown her way.
Time will tell, but hopefully Hollywood will give Gabby a chance!

Less we forget the most important question, “Does she want to have a career in Hollywood?” Only this business can be so presumputious that they sell her down river before they know if she even wants this. She was in a hit film and nominated for an Oscar. I’d say that’s as good as it can get. Millions of other things to do in life, most are far more fullfilling and worthwhile than working in Hollywood.

I don’t think it’s a question of her needing to lose weight for movie roles, she needs to lose weight for her HEALTH. I’m all for curves, but obesity is a serious problem.

i guess she needs to loose weight in order to live first !! then think about her career , i really don’t know how the hell she wakes up every morning looking at her self in the merror thinking that she might look cute for a moment or being healthy in one way or another !! god she really needs to loose weight .

I agree with the above. She definitely needs to loose weight, whether she wants to be in more movies or not. She doesn’t need to be stick thin, but she’s got to loose some of it. Look at Mo’Nique, or Queen Latifah, they’re not thin but they’re not obese either.

You’re right 100 %,weight loss is obviously large challenge ,i too had big problem to remove off excessive mass,i imply i used to be dieing within the fitness center five to six timesevery week for a few of hours and that i managed to take of 67 pounds, so now i feel much better with a hundred and eighty pounds, however i wouldn’t advocate anybody to starve and practice to the death as i used to be (i used to be stressed out, burned out, got tachycardia-okay now……) Keep away from any weight loss with out correct set up,lucid goal and proved dietary supplements!
