Angelina Jolie gave Brad Pitt an $18,500 tree for Valentine’s Day, the UK Sun is reporting.
Jolie, 34, plans to plant the 200-year-old olive tree at their $60 million estate in the south of France.
“Ange bought it from a nursery called The English Garden Centre in Valbonne, near their house. It’s a very special tree and cost her a fortune,” an insider tells the Sun.
The olive branch has traditionally been offered up as a truce and symbol of peace, making it an interesting gift considering the rampant split rumors about the couple of four years.
Pitt, 45, and Jolie recently put on a public display of affection at the Super Bowl.
Their lawyer told BBC News last week that the couple have begun legal proceedings against the News of the World, which reported on Jan. 24 that the two had agreed to divide their assets and made arrangements for the custody of their six children, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 3, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18 months.
Hold on for one more day? It’s not that easy anymore for Carnie Wilson, who has realized she can no longer fight her weight battle alone.
“I need help,” the singer, who now weighs 212 lbs., tells People.
Wilson weighed over 300 lbs. before undergoing gastric bypass surgery in 1999. She lost 150 lbs., but has struggled to keep the weight off.
“Having children derailed me a bit,” says the Wilson Phillips singer, who has been unable to lose the 61 lbs. she gained while pregnant with daughter Luciana, born last June. (Wilson had put on 70 lbs. during her pregnancy with daughter Lola, now 4.)
The singer, who stars in the GSN reality show Carnie Wilson: Unstapled, finally got a wakeup call during a Feb. 4 appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, where she was weighed onstage. The host defined her as morbidly obese and prediabetic, and placed her on a weight-loss program.
Weighing in at 218 lbs. during the Jan. 13 Oz taping, Wilson is now down to 212 lbs., and says she hopes to ultimately get to around 160 lbs.
“I don’t want to be drastic. I want to be realistic,” says Wilson, who is losing the weight for her children as much as for herself.
“I have to be a teacher to my daughters,” she says. “Lola started to notice commercials on TV with people who are trying to lose weight, and she looks at me. She’s thinking about this stuff, and it’s getting to her.”
Will Gerard Butler’s latest move make Jennifer Aniston just a wee bit jealous?
The Scottish actor – and ladies man – is offering himself up for a dinner date with the winner of a raffle to benefit charity, according to his Web site. “Gerard Butler Dot Net is giving YOU the opportunity to ENJOY a DATE with GERARD BUTLER,” the announcement on his site reads about the Kids Kicking Cancer contest.
Appropriately enough, the raffle drawing will take place on Valentine’s Day. So far, Butler’s “win a date with me” campaign has raised more than $56,590, according to his site.
Rumors have swirled of a romance between Butler, 40, and Aniston, 41, since they co-starred in The Bounty Hunter and were seen cozying up at last month’s Golden Globes.
Weeks later, Butler was caught kissing a street performer after a late night out. And Aniston included Butler in her 41st birthday celebration in Mexico.

This movie is one of those rare movies that really gets to me. It was so unbelievably moving, and sad, and wonderful all at the same time.
I saw the movie based solely on the fact that I love Colin Firth. All of his movies are kind of the same, know what I mean? Well – after seeing A Single Man, I can’t say that – ever again. This movie is unlike any movie he’s ever done, and I doubt anyone will argue it is his best performance to date.
Colin plays George Falconer, a 52 year old homosexual from London, who teaches English in Los Angeles in the year 1962. It’s 1962 through the eyes of first time director, fashion designer Tom Ford. The movie was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing 1962 through Tom’s eyes was delightful, to say the least. Everyone was so beautiful in this movie – from the clothes to the model’s-turned-actors who play the roles of George’s friends.
George is deeply depressed. His lover of 16 years, played by the ADORABLE Matthew Goode (I could have used more of him!), died in a car crash, and George is unable to get over his loss. He has decided he cannot live without his partner, and has decided to kill himself. The movie spans over one long, sad, moving day, and in this one day – can he be convinced to keep living?
The movie is filmed to look very gritty – almost black and white. As the movie starts out, everything looks very bleak. The style of filming reflects how George feels. As the day progresses, he has brief moments of happiness – and in these moments, the film gets brilliant – almost glowing. Is George coming out of his sadness?
I won’t give away the ending of the movie, but I will say that this movie is absolutely amazing. Colin Firth absolutely deserves his Best Actor nomination he received for this movie. I already want to see it again. It is definitely NOT a feel good – happy – date movie, but it is a brilliant movie that moved me to tears.
Bottom Line: Not everyone will love this movie as much as I did, so I don’t think I’d say it’s for everyone. But I absolutely LOVED this movie. I thought it is hands down Colin Firth’s best acting role – to date – and I praise Tom Ford’s directing ability. I cannot wait to see what does next. Loved it!
