USA Network has announced today that it has picked up the original series Covert Affairs starring Piper Perabo (“Coyote Ugly,” “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”), Christopher Gorham (“Ugly Betty,” “Jake 2.0″), Peter Gallagher (“The O.C.,” “American Beauty”), Kari Matchett (“Invasion”) and Anne Dudek (“House,” “Mad Men”). COVERT AFFAIRS will premiere with a 90-minute episode followed by 11 one-hour episodes. The series will be shot on location in Toronto. The announcement was made today by Jeff Wachtel, president, original programming, USA Network, and co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions.
“Covert Affairs is a perfect fit with USA’s other top rated original series,” said Wachtel. “It combines the best of the network’s brand attributes – high concept characters with an aspirational tone set in an exciting location – this time in the intriguing and surprisingly rich world of the CIA.”
In COVERT AFFAIRS, we meet Annie Walker (Perabo), a young CIA trainee who is thrust into the inner sanctum of the agency when she is unexpectedly promoted to field operative. While it appears that she has been plucked from obscurity for her exceptional linguistic skills, there may be something or someone from her past that her CIA bosses are really after. Gorham plays Auggie Anderson, a CIA military intelligence agent, blinded while on assignment, and Annie’s guide in this world of bureaucracy, excitement and intrigue. Gallagher plays Arthur, the formidable Director of Clandestine Services for the CIA. Dudek plays a married mother of two and is and Annie’s older sister and Matchett plays Joan, head of the CIA’s Domestic Protection Division who happens to be married to Arthur.

Kristen Cavallari, who usually looks a little curvy and beautiful has lost some weight, and now looks like skin and bones! I really just don’t get it.
You think this is bad? Nothing even comes close to how scary Rachel Zoe looks. Check out these astonishing pics of her in a swimsuit that DListed posted yesterday.

Miley Cyrus is all set to shake off the alter ego that launched her into superstardom.
Cyrus’ blockbuster show Hannah Montana will wrap production forever in 2010, reps for Disney confirmed to the New York Post Friday. The Disney Channel series — about average teen “Miley Stewart” who secretly moonlights as pop star Hannah Montana — begins shooting its fourth season Jan. 18, concluding sometime this summer.
Hannah Montana’s season-three finale, “Is Miley Saying Goodbye?” airs in mid-March, and mirrors the actress-singer’s own growing pains. “It’s one of the things [her character Miley Stewart] has been wrestling with for months,” Disney Channel executive Andy Bonnett tells the Post. “Whether it’s time to make a decision to continue being Hannah Montana or just be a regular, ordinary girl.” (Season four premieres “in late spring,” and will air throughout 2010, Bonnett added.)
In September 2008, Cyrus squashed rumors that she was trying to get fired from the show, telling UsMagazine.com at the time, “I am fully committed to Hannah Montana. It’s what gave me this amazing opportunity to reach out to so many people.”
Now 17, Cyrus is leaving her show at a high point; it still averages nearly 5 million viewers a week, the Post notes. The maturing star has certainly turned heads over the past year and a half: a half-naked Vanity Fair cover, a stripper-pole performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, a precocious tattoo and countless provocative remarks.
In fact, tween site JSYK.com voted Cyrus the worst celebrity influence of 2009; out of nearly 45,000 votes, Cyrus garnered 42%, beating out Britney Spears (27%) and Kanye West (19%).
But the star has plenty of other projects to keep her occupied: She headlines the Nicholas Sparks romantic film The Last Song (which premieres in April) and makes a cameo in the Sex and the City sequel, which arrives May 28. “It’s the best job I’ve ever done,” Cyrus said of her appearance in Sex. She has called her burgeoning film career “my main passion.”

This is totally random…but I felt strongly enough about it I had to say something!
I went to bed early and stretched out in my flannel sheets, ready to watch Sandra Bullock and Bradley Cooper in All About Steve. I was excited to see it, because I love the two of them, and thought how bad could it be, really?
Well the answer is…it can be bad. Really, really bad. It was actually so bad that I was embarassed for Sandra Bullock. After seeing her in the amazing Blindside, this piece of crap actually HURT to watch.
I gave the movie about a half an hour, and I had to turn it off. It was unbelievably stupid. So tonight, no matter how bored you are, do not watch All About Steve. I’m warning you now.

Tony Award winner Alan Cumming and Kristen Bell have joined Cher and Christina Aguilera in the new film musical “Burlesque.”
“I’m a burlesque dancer who’s an alcoholic, so I’m playing sexier than I’ve ever done before,” Bell (Reefer Madness, “Veronica Mars”) told Parade.com.
Cumming is set to return to his Cabaret roots, portraying the master of ceremonies at the strip club run by Tess, who is played by Oscar winner Cher. Newly added cast members also include Peter Gallagher, Eric Dane, Cam Gigandet and Julianne Hough.
As previously reported, Grammy-winning pop singer Aguilera will star as a young Midwestern girl who arrives in Hollywood seeking stardom. Stanley Tucci (“Julie & Julia,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” Frankie and Johnny) will portray the manager of a Hollywood club.
Steven Antin, who penned the original screenplay, directs the film that began shooting Nov. 9 and is aiming for a Thanksgiving 2010 premiere. Susannah Grant provided additional work on the script. Donald De Line produces the film.
WAIT! I have lots more pics from the set! More after the jump! (I didn’t know Christina was bow-legged!) (more…)
