The Jersey Shore’s Snooki wins this battle.

The New York City gym teacher who punched Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, 21, in the face is losing his job, TMZ.com reports.

An official at the NYC Department of Education tells the site it’s drafting a letter to fire Ferro. “The termination is underway,” the official says.

Ferro, a gym teacher in the borough of Queens, had been assigned to a non-teaching role ever since the controversial footage aired during an MTV promo of the show last December.

Vanessa Paradis opens up about motherhood

FP_IMAGE_1857437/FP_SET_1857390

Johnny Depp is hard to resist. So, it’s no wonder his longtime girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, couldn’t resist having the star’s children.

“I’d wanted to be a mother for a long time, but with him I couldn’t avoid it,” the French singer, 37, reveals in a new interview with the U.K.’s Sunday Times Magazine. “He was, and still is, the love of my life.”

Paradis has dated the Pirates of the Caribbean star, 46, for 11 years, and they have two children, Lily Rose, 10, and Jack, 7.

How do they make their relationship last?

“There is a lot of friendship between us, respect and admiration,” she says. “We’ve understood that if we want it to carry on working, it’s essential to give each other space. You don’t eat the same food every day, you don’t read the same book or listen to the same record over and over again. You have to discover things for yourself.”

She says that Depp is a wonderful dad.

“I could go on and on about all the things I admire in him,” she says. “I like watching him when he’s thinking, when he’s talking with people. I like seeing how he handles situations. I admire him as an actor, as a father, as a man. Above all, I admire the person he is. He’s fantastic.”

Conan O’Brien releases statement over NBC drama

80328y1_obrien_c_b_gr_06

Conan O’Brien wants nothing to do with the “destruction” of “The Tonight Show” — claiming that moving the show back to another time slot will ruin the show’s legacy.

O’Brien just released a candid letter to the “People of Earth,” in which he addresses his “personal disappointment” in losing the show.

He also reveals that he has no offer to work for another network — and would still like to work things out with NBC.

Conan also takes a shot at NBC, claiming NBC promised him the opportunity to build a lasting audience, but “sadly, we were never given that chance.”

Here is the letter in its entirety: (more…)

New Bachelor spinoff in the works

bachelor-pad-show

If the drama on this season of The Bachelor isn’t enough, the franchise is adding a spinoff to the mix.

ABC has ordered seven episodes of Bachelor Pad, a spinoff that will bring back 20 former contestants — from the past 13 seasons of The Bachelor and five seasons of The Bachelorette — and have the “all-stars” live together in a Big Brother-style house, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.

The concept of the new series was inspired by the real-life relationships that have continued among former Bachelor casts, executive producer Martin Hilton told The Hollywood Reporter.

“All these people have been friends, been enemies, they date each other and bring all this great backstory to the show,” Hilton said. “It seemed like there was an opportunity to combine that world with a new competitive reality show.”

With Bachelor host Chris Harrison on board for the spinoff, the show will focus on competitions — some inspired by incidents from past seasons — among the contestants. Each episode will end with evictions from the residence.

Although the cast has not yet been officially selected, Hilton says that top players, including former winners, are on board.

Bachelor Pad is slated to premiere late this summer, after the finale of The Bachelorette, on ABC.

Elisabetta Canalis: I Love Being with George Clooney

FP_IMAGE_4348628/FP_SET_4346656

What’s life like walking the red carpet on the arm of boyfriend George Clooney? Elisabetta Canalis has no complaints.

“Yes, I love it!” the actor’s girlfriend told People of spending awards season at Clooney’s side. The couple held hands while walking the red carpet Monday night at the 2009 New York Film Critic’s Circle Awards in Manhattan, where Clooney, 48, was honored as Best Actor for his performances in Up in the Air and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Canalis, 31, also gave a thumbs up to the pair’s New Years vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: “Great!” And does she find Clooney as charming as everyone else does? “Yes, of course,” she said, beaming.

Of course, part of Clooney’s charm is his sense of humor. “She’s homely,” joked Clooney, holding their interlaced fingers to his chest. “But what do you do?”

More Fun
Clooney continued his clowning when he got onstage. During his first trip to the podium, to present best animated film to his Mr. Fox director Wes Anderson, Clooney commented about the fact that his dinner wasn’t served until hours after his drinks were.

“I got the chicken about five minutes ago, so I’m Mariah Carey f—ed up right now,” he joked, referring to Carey’s rambling speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Jan. 5.

When Christine Lahti, who presented Clooney with his award, asked Clooney if he had ever Googled himself, Clooney good-naturedly shot back, “I Google myself every afternoon.”

When he later took to the stage to accept his Best Actor award, he assured the audience, “I’m not drunk anymore. I’m gonna be good.”

Clooney and Canalis have many more red carpets to travel in the coming weeks: Clooney is also nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, for Up in the Air.

Florida Politician Defends Tiger Woods in Child Abuse Allegations

90315W9_WOODS_T_B_GR_03

With all the negative media attention surrounding Tiger Woods and his family, one politician is putting her foot down in defense of the pro golfer. Republican Florida Senator Rhonda Storms is sticking up for Tiger against reports that he abused his children. Sen. Storms is demanding the state’s Department of Children & Families investigate if someone filed the potentially libelous report against Tiger and his wife Elin Nordegren after news broke of his sex scandal, South Florida’s Sun Sentinel reports.

Sen. Storms sent a letter to DCF Secretary George Sheldon stating that whoever placed the Dec. 11 phone call to an abuse hotline to investigate the welfare of Tiger and Elin’s children ignited unnecessary trauma for the family, the Sun Sentinel reports.

She said she believes it was done to “keep the media celebrity attention going.”

“To use the resources of the state for some grand celebrity theater is completely unacceptable,” Sen. Storms wrote in the letter, which was cited in the Sun Sentinel. “It robs children who are legitimately in danger.”

When Child Services investigated Tiger’s Florida home on Dec. 12, they found the couple’s children Sam Alexis, 2, and Charlie Axel, 11 months, safe and at no risk of abuse.

The children were home at the time of the domestic spat between Tiger and Elin on Nov. 27.

“Call me a cynic, call me skeptical but it’s not beyond the pale to think that this was done by somebody in the celebrity-entertainment circle,” Sen. Storms told the Sun-Sentinel. “I don’t think that stretches credulity to arrive at that conclusion. But it could just as well have been some person, like a hanger-on, just a person who follows celebrity.”

Sen. Storms said she feels whoever exacerbated the rumors and called child services should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

If caught, the accused could be facing possible criminal charges including a five-year prison term and fines of up to $10,000 for the libelous act.
