OK Go are four guys from Chicago who write songs that don’t seem to have much deep meaning yet are jam-packed with whiz kid hooks. They might appear as a fun-loving college band without serious intentions, but that’s not exactly true. They were signed to a major label right after forming in 1998. They’ve had hit singles played on the radio (“Get Over It” from their debut) but to their credit, they don’t engage in pretentious rock star posing (except for their recent tongue-in-cheek pimped out fashion sense) going so far as to make fun of themselves by learning a complicated 1980s-era dance routine (choreographed by a band member’s sister) for the sake of their live show. This resulted in a fall-on-the-floor hysterical music video for “A Million Ways,” which was recorded in a suburban backyard. It was never intended for public release, but like the Tommy Lee and Pamela video, it caught on in an online whirl, and they were forced to release it as their next single. But despite all signs indicating that they are carefree funsters, OK Go are also NPR-loving brainiacs and perfectionists who compose scores for underground indie flicks and worked closely with producer Tore (Franz Ferdinand) Johansson on their sophomore album recording scores of songs, only to abandon many of them when they didn’t seem worthy of release. OK Go just make it look like they’re effortlessly churning out power pop when in truth they work hard and relentlessly — even moving to Los Angeles to help further their prodigious career goals.

OK Go’s newest CD ‘Of the Blue Colour of the Sky’ came out on Tuesday 1/12/10, along with the release of their newest video ‘This Too Shall Pass’, featuring the Notre Dame marching band to accompany them.

OK Go will probably always be known as the Treadmill Guys (that’s what my kids said, anyway) and I have to say I’ve probably seen that video about a million times. Love it! So how do they follow up the success of such a huge hit? With their new album, ‘Of the Blue Colour of the Sky’. I think it’s a great album – fun – fast paced album. My early favorites are the single’s “This Too Shall Past” and “White Knuckles”. I’ve been listening to the album nonstop since I’ve gotten it. It’s a peppy – bubbly album, and that’s what I like about OK Go!

Jessica Simpson isn’t exactly enjoying the view at the gym.

“Dear elderly man at the gym: it’s hard 4 me 2 keep composure whilst punching at chipmunk speed when ur ball sack spills out of ur wind shorts,” the Vh1 reality star, 29, (whose show, The Price of Beauty, premieres in March) Tweeted Wednesday.

But the, ahem, indecent exposure hasn’t soured her view on working out.

“Boxing has changed my life!” she wrote earlier that day. “I have so much energy and it has cured my insomnia. Although I don’t think I can get out of bed I’m SO sore.”

Simpson — who showed off her ample curves while out in Santa Monica Wednesday — took up boxing earlier this month.

“Second day in a row… Have I lost my marbles?” she Twittered on Jan. 7.

Alec Baldwin prefers to date women his own age – because he has nothing in common with younger ladies.

The 51-year-old actor, who romances Meryl Streep in new movie It’s Complicated, can’t see the appeal of dating a woman who wouldn’t be able to hold an interesting conversation with him.

He says, “What’s worse than waking up with a 25-year-old woman, you know what I mean? You want to go shoot yourself because you have nothing to say to her. Seriously. It’s sad but there are men who go for whatever their earliest ideal of a sexual partner was, they stay with that ideal, meaning men often lock into the image of the first girl they loved at 18. They get stuck in an idea of sexuality with young women. Other men learn to see beyond all that.”

And Baldwin, who was married to Kim Basinger for nine years until 2002, hints that he regrets divorcing the former Bond girl, who is the mother of his 14-year-old daughter.

He adds, “Men are literally lying in bed with their wives when the marriage is essentially over thinking ‘I’ve got to get the hell out of here’ and have a fantasy woman in mind. Then you get divorced, meet a woman, marry her and, by the time all that goes by, you’ve aged a few years and are ready to go back to your ex-wife. You want a woman who is sane and normal. A woman who is more like you. You’ve gotten older.”

Julia Roberts is helping her mother Betty relocate from Georgia to California so they can spend more time together following a health scare last September.

The 75 year old underwent emergency heart surgery for an angioplasty procedure in a hospital near her home in Atlanta, Georgia after suffering a reported heart attack while Roberts was filming new movie Eat, Pray, Love in India.

The actress has since returned to her family home in Malibu and she is determined to take better care of her mom – by moving her into a property close to her own.

Roberts is also keen for her three young kids with husband Danny Moder to bond with their grandmother, reports the National Enquirer.

A source tells the tabloid, “She wants her mother nearby to see her three kids – Hazel, Phinnaeus and Henry – as much as possible. Julia was so freaked out by her mum’s close call in late September that she vowed to move her closer to her own family. Betty plans to move to Pacific Palisades in the next few months.”

Sarah Jessica Parker is reportedly in talks for a top job in the fashion industry – as the creative director for design house Halston Heritage.

The actress reached fashion icon status after starring in Sex & the City playing shoe-loving Carrie Bradshaw, and went on to create the affordable apparel line Bitten for Steve & Barry in 2007. The line was discontinued in 2008.

Now Parker is negotiating a high-ranking role with Halston’s newest collection, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

The company has yet to release details about the actress’ new position.
