Considering the 2009 she’s had, it’s not surprising that Rihanna wants to finish it with a bang.

It was just announced that the Rated R singer will join NBC’s Carson Daly-hosted New Year’s Eve show from the middle of Manhattan’s world-famous Times Square. RiRi will be performing live for the freezing fans huddled into the Big Apple’s busiest intersection. Let’s just hope for her sake that she wears a little more clothing than she’s used to sporting on stage.

On Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly will air on NBC from 10-11pm and then pick up again at 11:30pm for the official countdown to 2010. Also performing on the show are Grammy-winning rockers Green Day.

Is it all over between Kate Hudson and Alex Rodriguez? HollywoodLife.com says so, citing sources who say A-Rod was partying it up with the ladies in Miami all weekend while Kate was in NYC promoting Nine. The Yankee slugger supposedly played the field at Wall Lounge in the W Hotel Friday night “with two women,” the source says, adding, “He was acting VERY single, and Kate Hudson was definitely not there.”

The source also said, “Kate and A-Rod broke up.”

Meanwhile, Kate was dining out with friends at Prime Meats in Brooklyn and seemed happy enough.

Then on Saturday, A-Rod showed up at the Armani Exchange “Cool Shades of Style” dinner at the Solarium above the Delano Hotel in Miami, once again flying solo.

Hollywood Life says the couples’ reps haven’t responded yet, but that their sources are adamant that the split happened, saying, “They are totally over.”

Rachel Uchitel has been getting numerous death threats, sources tell TMZ.

Uchitel — the woman whose alleged affair ignited the Tiger Woods scandal — has been getting cell phone calls from people threatening to kill her. A number of people got her cell phone number by looking at a 2001 photo making the rounds with an old cell phone number displayed — a number that referred callers to her current cell phone.

We’re told several callers have threatened to hunt Uchitel down in New York and get her.

People have also made threats on her Facebook page, which she has now shut down.

Taylor Swift is no longer a teen: The country superstar marked turning 20 with a Christmas-themed birthday party for friends, her band and her tour crew at her family’s home in Hendersonville, Tenn.

“It’s more like an end-of-year Christmas party that happens to be on my birthday,” says Swift, who spent the night before at home, baking butter cookies and gingerbread cookies with cream-cheese icing for her guests.

The biggest gift came from Swift herself. The singer has donated $250,000 to schools around the country that she’s either attended or worked with. The money will pay teachers’ salaries as well as buy books and fund various educational programs.

“Something I wanted to do at the end of this amazing year and especially on my birthday was give back to something I really believe in, which is education,” says Swift. “The schools that I went to and the amazing people I got to learn from really turned me into who I am, and I wanted to give back.”

Nicole Kidman has reportedly admitted that she doesn’t have “issues” with her weight.

The Nine star, who has a 1-year-old daughter named Sunday Rose with country singer Keith Urban, has claimed that because of her height, she has never had to deal with being overweight.

Speaking to She magazine, the Oscar winner said: “As Keith’s a musician there are pitstops at Wendy’s. But I’m six foot tall, so it’s not weight that’s an issue for me, but things like cholesterol.”

The 42-year-old Australian actress also revealed that she has been an avid runner since a young girl.

Kidman added: “It’s what my dad taught us. He’s a marathon runner. He’s 71 and goes on ten-mile runs. He takes Sunday hiking on his back for hours.”

Nine arrives in UK cinemas on December 18 and in the US on December 25.
