Susan Boyle’s hit album and adoring fans gives her plenty to smile about, but Susan opened up to OK! about some less happy moments and how she’s now dreaming about finding her heart’s duet.
Why are people fascinated by you?
Put it this way: A woman who went on Britain’s Got Talent with mad hair, bushy eyebrows and the frock I was wearing had to be noticed. Come on! I know it’s a cliché, but it’s a bit of a Cinderella story.
Was it hard, dealing with instant fame?
I went from being an unknown to headlines like “The Hairy Angel.” The pressure was suffocating.
In fact, you checked into London’s Priory Clinic, a mental health facility….
After the finale, I went there with extreme exhaustion. I’ve never felt so tired, but I look back on it now and it was a necessity. I wanted to get a break, without all the cameras.
Do you like America?
I went to L.A. and there were great crowds waiting for us at the airport — it was quite something. The hotel I was staying in, apparently Frank Sinatra used to take his women back there! Talk about “Strangers in the Night,” eh?
You’ve undergone quite a transformation, as of late….
I brush up quite well! I keep reading that I’ve had Botox and teeth whitening but I haven’t! I’ve been working hard to lose a bit of weight, which has been good.
What about a boyfriend?
What a laugh. There was a TV company that wanted to set me up. Apparently he was nice, but I’ve got my living to do now.
So what do you dream about these days?
I dream about security, about one day finding the right person and continuing to make people happy with my music. My advice to those who dare to dream is don’t give up. If I can do it, anyone else can.

Kate Beckinsale was “flattered” when her breasts became a talking point in the press – until she realized critics were judging her assets.
The actress admits she was pleased with tabloid reports which suggested she had undergone a breast enhancement operation after she put on weight for her role in 2004′s The Aviator. But she was hurt after learning her chest was being ridiculed by the media.
She says, “At one point I felt as though everyone was out to get me. We were suddenly talking about breasts – not brains. I was having everything examined from my cellulite to my choice of films. I had allowed myself to be flattered when all this talk of breasts started because I assumed it meant I looked good. But when I found out it meant I had horrible boobs I was taken aback. I began to wonder why I cared about things which, essentially, don’t matter at all.”
And despite being named Esquire magazine’s Sexiest Woman Alive, Beckinsale insists she still worries about her image: “I’ve always had doubts about my looks. Most women have body issues and I’m no different.”

Colin Farrell spent his Christmas holiday bringing toys to sick children in hospital.
The kind-hearted dad-of-two played Santa to the little ones at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland, handing out presents and chatting for several hours, according to Ireland’s Evening Herald.
A source tells the newspaper Farrell has made several visits to the center in previous years, adding, “He keeps a low profile when he comes in. He doesn’t want photographers or anything.
“He has bought Nintendo DS and Wiis for them and plays with them for a couple of hours. He’s really popular with the staff and really genuine, and the kids really love and appreciate his visit.”

Mel Gibson’s new movie is already causing controversy in Mexico – relatives of inmates at a Veracruz jail have blasted plans to move prisoners to make way for the film shoot.
The Hollywood actor-turned-director has set his sights on filming at the Ignacio Allende prison in the eastern coastal city.
Veracruz state governor, Fidel Herrera Beltran, announced earlier this month that prisoners would be moved out of the jail to allow the film crew to work there.
Authorities previously planned to transfer inmates to a new prison in the town next year – but families fear their loved ones will be sent to facilities across the country if the jail is not built in time.
Hundreds of family members launched demonstrations outside the prison on Monday in a bid to stop the transfers until the new unit is ready. The 24-hour protest reportedly came to an end on Tuesday after the prison’s director announced he had received no orders to transfer inmates and vowed families would be informed if any prisoners are to be moved.
Gibson previously filmed his 2006 epic Apocalypto in Veracruz and subsequently handed local authorities a $1 million donation to help build new homes for victims of 2005′s Hurricane Stan.

Organizers behind Rihanna’s upcoming New Year’s Eve gig in the United Arab Emirates have dismissed reports they’ve ordered the singer to tone down her act.
Tabloid reports suggest the Umbrella singer is set to cover up for her concert at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to avoid offending any conservative fans.
But bosses at events company Flash, the firm organizing the gig, insist the rumors are “totally inaccurate”.
A spokesperson says, “The facts recently reported around Rihanna’s Abu Dhabi concert are totally inaccurate. Rihanna is bringing an incredible new stage show to the capital and there’s no doubt the event will be fantastic; an ideal way to celebrate the beginning of a new decade.”

Renee Zellweger has formed a close bond with her boyfriend’s parents.
The ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ actress instantly hit it off with Bradley Cooper’s mother Gloria and father Charlie and has even been spending time with them in Los Angeles without the actor.
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: “Renee and Gloria have been getting along really well and have had a lot of ‘girl’ time. She’s comfortable enough with them that she doesn’t need Bradley around. She liked showing his parents around town, and she seems very happy lately. They’re kind of like one big happy family already.”
Renee and Gloria were seen getting coffee together earlier this week and amazed onlookers with their closeness.
One eyewitness said: “They looked like they had known each other for years. It was very sweet.”
It was recently claimed that Renee and Bradley have splashed out $4 million on their first home together and will move into the four-bedroom Californian property early next month.
A source said: “They have already lots of plans for the renovations. They’re both homebodies, and they can’t wait to have a place to entertain friends and just be together.”

Kourtney Kardashian found labor “easy”.
The reality TV star – who gave birth to Mason Dash Disick, her first child with boyfriend Scott Disick earlier this month – was amazed by how smoothly things went at the hospital and even invited her family into the delivery room.
She said: “It was surprisingly easy and just an incredible experience. I always thought your first is supposed to be really hard, but it was easy. I have an amazing doctor. He actually delivered me! The room environment was just so relaxing, and everyone I wanted to be there was there -Scott, my mom, and my sisters Kim and Khloe. Actually, you’re only allowed to have two people in the room because of the swine flu — so we snuck Kim and Khloe in!”
The 30-year-old socialite said having their own child just felt “amazing”.
She told Life and Style magazine: “It’s just so indescribable. You don’t get how good being a parent feels until it happens to you. We’re on Mason’s schedule, waking up every couple of hours to breast-feed. But it’s fun to get up and see him. I miss him by the time I see him again.”
Kourtney and Scott are so enamored by their new arrival, they are already thinking of extending their family further.
Kourtney added: “Right now I’m obsessed with Mason and want to give him all my time. But being with him has definitely made me think about having another one! Kim and I are 18 months apart. Growing up, we did everything together. It would be nice for Mason to have a little brother or sister that many months apart too.”
