Turning 45 and desperate to mark the milestone, Teri Hatcher put her pedal to the metal and reached her goal – completing the grueling Malibu Triathlon in a respectable 2 hours, 11 minutes.

“I wasn’t panicked about [turning 45] – it just seemed like a milestone,” the Desperate Housewives star tells Prevention magazine for its February issue. “The older you get, the more you become aware of the things you can’t change and the things you can change.”

While not exactly sporting Michelle Obama biceps yet, Hatcher is still grooving on her new strong-armed look. “Just the other day on the set, Marcia [Cross] looked at me and said, ‘It’s great that you’re so strong now,’ ” said Hatcher. “I like my arms.”

Her routine includes a heart-pounding 10-minute workout of 20 lunges, squats, bicep curls, shoulder presses, push ups and chair dips, followed by a Pilates session.

After training for the triathlon daily with 50-mile bike rides, back-and-forth swimming in her backyard pool and lifting free weights, Hatcher didn’t give a fig about her competition when the race started. “I wasn’t really in a race against anything but my own will: Would I make it without stopping, without walking, without stopping to pee: My goal was not to do any of those things, and I didn’t!”

Now on track to keep her naturally lithe shape strong, she nixes counting calories. “I’ve never been a dieter. I put blueberries in oatmeal, but I also put brown sugar in.”

Jude Law says he was humbled personally and professionally to be asked to help take over Heath Ledger’s final movie role, which Ledger left unfinished when he died in January 2008.

“When I got the call, it was a double tug,” Law says of joining the cast of The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. “I liked Heath very much as a man and admired him as an actor. To help finish his final piece of work was a tribute I felt compelled to make.”

Ledger was in the midst of filming the role of Tony in the fantasy film, directed by Terry Gilliam, when he died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in his New York apartment on Jan. 22, 2008, at age 28.

Determined to finish the movie, Gilliam kept Ledger’s work intact, and hired Law, Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell to round out the role of Tony – each playing a different incarnation of the character after he steps through a magical mirror.

“To help Terry finish his film was an honor paid to a man I adore,” Law says. “Though we were all there in remembrance, Heath’s heart pushed us with great lightness to the finish.”

Lily Cole, who plays the female lead as Tony’s love interest Valentina, says it was a struggle to resume filming just a month after Ledger’s death.

“We’d had a month to absorb that situation, which by no means is enough time to get over it, but it was a month to think about finishing the film,” Cole tells Film Review Online.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which Gilliam has dedicated to Ledger, opens in limited release in the U.S. on Christmas Day and in wide release on Jan. 8.

“Contrary to what has been falsely reported, Jennifer Hudson is not pregnant,” her rep Lisa Kasteler says. “Jennifer leaves in April for South Africa where she will portray Winnie Mandela in the feature film, Winnie.”

“It is a commitment she is excited about and takes very seriously,” the rep adds. “Jennifer is currently in the studio recording her second album and this is the only delivery she is looking forward to in 2010.”

The Oscar winner is already busy with one little one at home – son David was born in August.

Amy Winehouse has just been charged with assault stemming from a mysterious incident at a theater over the weekend — her second arrest for assault this year.

Amy turned herself in to the Thames Valley Police today — but was freed on bail soon after she arrived.

Winehouse is now required to be back in court January 20 to face the music.

As TMZ previously reported, Winehouse was busted in March for allegedly punching a female fan — but she was ultimately let off the hook for that incident.

A shocking number of strong prescription meds were found on Brittany Murphy’s bedroom nightstand after her sudden Dec. 20 death, but her husband denies she took anything dangerous enough that morning that would have killed her.

“My wife did not take anything on the morning of her death that would have caused her to be sick or ill, let alone die,” Brit screenwriter Simon Monjack tells the New York Daily News. “It’s beyond even the sickest speculation.”

According to the the coroner investigation notes (obtained by TMZ.com), medications confiscated included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

Monjack confirmed that investigators took away a lot of prescription meds, “but nothing else,” and denied rumors that the 32-year-old actress had a drug problem.

“There’s no question that’s rubbish,” Monjack said. “I’m confident it wasn’t an overdose,” he added when asked how she died (toxicology report results won’t be available for about six weeks). “She was not a drug addict.”

He also called reports that Murphy had an eating disorder “heartless.”

“The attacks on me, the attacks on my wife and suggestions that she was anorexic and drug addicted, it’s like, look at the (recent) photographs,” Monjack said.

“Look at that smile,” he went on. “That’s not the smile of an anorexic or drug addict or someone in a bad marriage. That’s someone who was content with her life.”

Britney Spears’ boyfriend, Jason Trawick, was out of town, but that didn’t stop Britney from moving full-steam ahead with her new mission — getting Jason to propose to her before the year is through. The pop star was spotted on December 9 in several Beverly Hills jewelry stores, looking at engagement rings all by herself. “Britney is ready to marry Jason,” says a friend of the 28-year-old, who has been reading bridal magazines and is hoping for a big, traditional wedding in the summer of 2010 — even though Jason has yet to pop the question. “She wants to be with him 24/7.”

Determined to get Jason to settle down with her, Britney has also begun making plans for after they’re married — and is urging Jason to cut back on his career. A high-powered agent at WME, Jason represented Britney long before the two of them hooked up, and his client list has included such stars as Hilary Duff and Paris Hilton. “His career is demanding,” the friend explains. “He can be on the phone or on his computer at any hour, day or night, and Britney finds that she’s competing with his work for attention.” Since Britney makes enough money to support both of them, she doesn’t see why Jason has to work as much as he does. “Britney doesn’t want to marry a workaholic,” her friend explains.
