In a show of support for Angie, Brad declined an invitation to the Oct. 31 Grand Prix Ball Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates — and the $5 million payday that came with it. Instead he opted to stay in LA to trick-or-treat (dressed as DJ Lance Rock from the children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba!) with Angelina and the kids on Oct. 31. “He’s spending more time with the family and doing less of these appearances, even though it’s a huge sum of cash,” says an insider.

James Magee, a rep for Global Event Management, confirms that Brad was expected at the affair. “We were told he would be attending as the guest of the Tourism Development & Investment Company,” Magee tells Life & Style. “But he was a no-show, and nobody seemed to know why.” The ball, which helped raise money for the clean-water charity Fresh2o, was the culmination of a three-day event celebrating Formula One racing. Festivities featured performances by superstars such as Beyoncé, Aerosmith and Timbaland.

Lindsay Lohan’s relationship with estranged father Michael Lohan got even uglier on Nov. 4, when Michael released a series of secretly recorded audiotapes of conversations he had with Lindsay and her mother, Dina. But now Michael is doing an about-face. “I will not release another audiotape about Lindsay,” he tells Life & Style, claiming he leaked the tapes only to pressure Lindsay — who he fears is abusing prescription drugs — into a rehab facility. “I did it because I wanted Lindsay to know how I felt when I heard that tape. When I get a phone call at 2, 3, 4 or 5 in the morning from my daughter and she’s in dire straits, I get very concerned.”

On one recording, a hysterical Lindsay claimed, “No one cares about me.” On another, Dina talked about Lindsay “cutting herself and hurting herself,” while another disturbing recording exposed the troubled 23-year-old’s apparent secret fling with Heath Ledger, who died of a drug overdose in 2008. Dina was livid after the tapes were released, saying, “The tapes were from a long time ago. For a father to stoop this low is unforgivable.”

Alex Rodriguez may have won the World Series, but Kate Hudson took home the prize!

Days after A-Rod, 34, and his New York Yankees became champions, he gave Kate a $39,000 white-gold ring set with pink sapphires and diamonds from Louis Vuitton. The Les Luxuriantes ring from the French design house was Alex’s way of thanking Kate, 30, for her support during the series, according to an insider.

“He has a World Series ring, and now she does, too,” the insider explains. “It’s a beautiful piece of jewelry and very unusual — just like Kate herself. He clearly knows her style and has great taste.”

The insider says it definitely wasn’t an engagement ring, but Kate was still thrilled nevertheless: “She, of course, thought it was such a romantic gesture.”

She looks great! Victoria’s Secret models pose in Times Square to celebrate the return of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to New York. The show will be broadcast December 1, 2009.

Even though I think she looks great, she tells People she still has weight to lose:

“I have some great one-of-a-kind latex pieces that were made for me. I figure why not? I embrace that I have more curves right now,” Klum, 36, told PEOPLE at the Victoria’s Secret Supermodels Take Over Times Square event on Wednesday.

“I’m definitely one of the heaviest of the bunch of the 30 girls in the show. And I still have 20 lbs. to go,” she admits. “But why not? I like my outfit. I like the way it looks on me.”
