Alexander Skarsgård Loves the Vampire Craze

True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgård, currently ranked #2 (just below Robert Pattinson) in OK!’s Hollywood’s Sexiest Vampire Poll, spoke to JustJared about his new film Straw Dogs, working with Kate Bosworth and his take on the vampire craze.
Straw Dogs, a remake of Sam Peckinpah’s 1971 taut psychological thriller, has Alexander playing a new kind of character — a has-been football star instead of the sexiest vampire around.
“I play a guy named Charlie who’s a guy from Mississippi who was a big star when he was younger — the quarterback of the football team. He was dating Kate Bosworth’s character, who was the cheerleader — the hottest girl in school — and everything was perfect,” Alexander explained. “He had the best life and people were, like, “You’re going to play in the NFL someday!” And then he got injured and nothing really happened for him.”
But the story doesn’t end there!
“The movie starts later [in Charlie's life] and he’s in his late twenties — he’s gotten bitter in a way. And [Kate's character] comes back with her new boyfriend (James Marsden), who’s a Hollywood screenwriter,” he added. “The movie’s about the dynamic between the three of them when they come back, how Charlie reacts to that. He wants her back…”
While fighting for Kate’s love onscreen, Alexander got to enjoy her friendship offscreen.
“I love Kate,” Alexander added. “She’s amazing — she’s going to be amazing in this movie. It’s a really tough part, but she did a great job — she’s a very good friend of mine.”
