Ashlee was ‘embarrassingly bad’ on ‘Melrose’
Looks like there’s one less “Melrose Place” mystery. Sure, fans are still scratching their heads about that whole “who killed Sydney Andrews?” thing, but at least those wondering why Ashlee Simpson-Wentz recently got the axe have their answer. According to on-set sources, the sometimes-singer-sometimes-actress was just plain awful as the show’s not-so-naïve Violet Foster.
“They hired her because they needed a good name to help create buzz,” one source revealed to Us Weekly. “But she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible.”
Allegedly producers finally realized that the only way to cope with Simpson-Wentz’s particular brand of bad acting was to cut her out of the show altogether. It’s a move that would have only come as a surprise to Simpson-Wentz herself, as another “Melrose” insider revealed the actress never realized she had a problem.
“She’s the worst actress, but nobody will tell her,” the insider said.

that must suck to be her! i have to admit, i haven’t seen the show, but everything that i’ve read has been one really bad review after another.

I tried watching it and honestly couldn’t any more because of her! I was 1 of many original Melrose fans, but I mean maybe somethings cannot be replicated. She was absolutely horrible! I saw 3 episodes, actually 2, I just couldn’t make myself see another one. She was seriously that bad. “Embarrassingly Bad” sounds pretty accurate. My question is didn’t they do auditions? They had to have known before taping… shame on them they used her for ratings. Not sure how it worked with everyone else, judging from the amount of comments, no one really cares. They did more damage in my opinion because now that she is off I probably still won’t watch (missed too much and have completely lost interest)! They should have killed her off instead of Sydney, that would have been a better plot!
