Penelope Cruz on the cover of Vanity Fair, defends Roman Polanski.

Well I love Penelope Cruz, but when I read the article below, I have to say I’m a bit bummed!
Spanish actress Penelope Cruz and French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel have signed a petition for the release of Roman Polanski that on Monday had grown to include 700 celebrities and film industry figures.
The petition was launched a week ago by the French performance and visual artists association, SACD, after the Polish-French director was detained in Switzerland to face possible extradition to the US to face child sex charges.
Adrien Brody, the US actor who starred in Polanski’s Oscar-winning The Pianist, Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal and his director compatriot Guillermo del Toro have also put their names to the list.
Polanski was detained in Switzerland after US authorities issued an arrest warrant in connection with the 1978 sex case involving the director and a 13-year-old girl.
Polanski, who pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor after striking a deal with prosecutors, fled the United States on the eve of his sentencing hearing.
The SACD petition does not comment directly on the crime for which Polanski was convicted, instead expressing outrage at his arrest at a film festival.
“It seems inadmissible… that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him,” said the association on its website.
“Film-makers, actors, producers and technicians – everyone involved in international film-making – want him to know that he has their support and friendship,” it said. Source
I’m sorry, but the man RAPED a 13 year old girl! Drugged and raped her! Not only did he rape her, but he admitted to sodomizing her. Call me crazy, but there is no such thing as consensual sex at 13. Whether she wanted it or not – the fact remains that she’s legally too young to make such a decision. No matter how promiscuous the girl was at 13 – he was an adult man who preyed on a young girl.It is rape – plain and simple!! To be honest it’s really bothering me that all of these celebrities are crying for his release. Why shouldn’t he be punished for this abhorrent crime!? Because he’s a celebrity? What kind of message does that send! Why do we have laws in place to protect young girls? For this very reason.
Please tell me I’m not alone…

funny, chris brown hit rhianna and he didn’t spend time in prison, celebrities are always treated differently, why not PolanskI?I’m not surprised!
October 8th, 2009 at 11:07 am
i’m sorry, but i now have 0 respect for Penelope or Adrien (I really liked both as actors before too). THERES A GOD DAMN PETITION TO KEEP HIM OUT OF JAIL????????? WHAT THE HELL??????????? are we in la la land? HE RAPED A 13 year old!!!celebrities are so stupid.
October 8th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
I will just say, that reading through the trial, I did notice that the 13 year old girl admitted to being previously sexually active on a regular basis.
Naturally, that doesn’t excuse a man for having sex with her when he should have known better than to do so. The woman has since begged that the charges be dropped though, so I think these two things combined shed a little light on the topic.
Also, Polanski’s wife and best friends were murdered in one of the most heinous and notorious crimes in US history so I think he’s lived quite a world of pain. Again, no excuse for doing something he knew was illegal but I think it is less black/white than people make it out to be.
October 8th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
It’s less black/white than it’s made out to be? Huh? I don’t care if she’d been sexually active prior to this, I can guarantee she wasn’t capable of consenting to being drugged and sodomized by someone who was 30 years older than she was. What the hell does Sharon Tate’s murder have to do with this???
I’m disgusted that people think that he’s a celebrated director should mean something. Why can’t celebrities just keep their mouths shut? And, apparently, their dicks in their pants?
October 8th, 2009 at 1:30 pm
All I know is that if it was any celebrities daughter that he raped… it would be a whole different story.
It digust me that anyone can defend it!!
Big whoop, the guys is a good filmaker. He doped some 13 year old up on qualudes and RAPED her.
He is a sick pig and i hope he finally gets what he deserves!!!
October 8th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
This would all be a non issue had he not run away and did the time for the crime. I read the transcript and he admitted he knew she was only 13 years old. Because he made Rosemarys baby (think Satan) he feels he is above the law. Would this be an issue if the man who jumped bail and refused to return was a non celebrity. I am appalled that celebrities are standing up for a PEDOPHILE RAPIST!!
I hope Nancy Grace jumps all over this.

Samantha Geimer said, \"I\’m sure if he could go back, he wouldn\’t do it again. He made a terrible mistake but he\’s paid for it.\" In 2008, Geimer stated in an interview that she wishes Polanski would be forgiven, \"I think he\’s sorry, I think he knows it was wrong. I don\’t think he\’s a danger to society. I don\’t think he needs to be locked up forever and no one has ever come out ever — besides me — and accused him of anything. It was 30 years ago now. It\’s an unpleasant memory … (but) I can live with it.\"
Isn\’t this about justice for the victim? Lynching him is not what the victim wants.
October 8th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Fifteen years after he pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, director Roman Polanski agreed to pay $500,000 to his victim, Samantha Geimer, to settle a civil lawsuit she filed, according to court documents provided to the press. But it is unclear whether that payment was ever made.
Maybe that’s why she “forgave” him
October 9th, 2009 at 12:03 am
SS–what are you talking about? Because the girl has had sex before that makes it okay to RAPE her?? Please educate yourself!!! This is a horrible attitude to have about a woman and her body and sexuality. It doesn’t matter, even if she was a prostitute. She is still entitled to have control over her own body and make her own choices over who she has sex with.
Just because the victim says he should go free now, does not mean that he should. It is for the good of society that he serve his time.
Lynching him? HE IS A RAPIST!!! He deserves everything he gets.

What kind of an argument is it, that he’s suffered enough? Granted, he survived Holocaust as a child, his wife, pregnant at the time, was brutally murdered, but does that make it OK to rape 13 year old girls? If we take that road we could as well say, he’s already suffered enough to rape two, or even three underage girls. This is not acceptable, whatever your background…
October 9th, 2009 at 4:59 am
Even if the child consented, it’s still statutory rape. Ask Mary Kay Letourneau. Why should Polanski be treated any differently? But, then again, why isn’t Woody Allen in jail?
October 9th, 2009 at 5:12 am
Really give this some thought: I’m a regular, non-famous man of 31 years old. Lets say I have a 13 year old girl over to my house. We do a bunch of drugs, then I have sex with her. What should happen to me? Should I be held accountable as an adult for having sex with a child?
Then Polanski should too.
October 9th, 2009 at 5:39 am
SS:
It is not about justice for the victim. Its about the laws of our society. It is wrong for a 44 year old man to find a 13 year old girl attractive nevertheless have sex with her! A 13yo child cannot give consent. No 44yo man should be having sex with 13 year olds, no matter how much they \\"want it\\" or how wild they are.
Its obvious Geimer was damaged for life by that experience. She can admit she was raped, is still haunted by it, and still defends him.
\\"Geimer stated in an interview that she wishes Polanski would be forgiven, \\"I think he’s sorry, I think he knows it was wrong. I don’t think he’s a danger to society. I don’t think he needs to be locked up forever and no one has ever come out ever — besides me — and accused him of anything. It was 30 years ago now. It’s an unpleasant memory … (but) I can live with it.\\"\\"

Justice isn’t about fulfilling a victim’s needs, it’s in the interest of society at large. Although she may not want to dredge up the past, and I truly feel sorry for her that she must, the justice system exists in the name of setting precedents and preventing future crimes. If he was let free just because his victim was over it, it could set a horrible precedent in the future that could affect other young victims of rape. Also, if justice was all about how the victim “feels” then it opens a door that anyone can pay off their victims to say they don’t want a case persued and it would be dropped.

Hello? This guy pours half a bottle of champagne then half a qualude into a 90 lb. 13 yr old (regardless of her prior sex history), then when told to stop repeatedly, rapes her vaginally and anally – every jackass Hollywood type (or anyone) should think of THEIR 13 year old being in the hands of a grown man today – and have him doing this to their daughter, and then see if they sign a petition to free him. OUTRAGEOUS -
October 9th, 2009 at 6:59 am
SS, have you ever thought about WHY Samantha Geimer wouldn\’t want to make a huge deal of this? She has a family, and a life. To go to trial would mean that she would have to spend a lot of time in court, and she would basically have to put her life on hold. How much money do you think she has been given to just lay off?
That doesn\’t mean that he did not break the law. As others have said, he drugged and sodomized a 13-year old girl; he has not been punished for it. Rather, he has continued to be glorified and celebrated as a great contributor to society and culture. Thankfully it is not up to the victims to decide what the punishment of the criminal is. There are set laws that must be followed, and consequences that *should* result if the law is heinously broken. To let a man off just because his victim doesn\’t want to relive the horror 30 years later does NOT mean that he can just be let off. Have you done ANY studying of the American legal system?
October 9th, 2009 at 7:22 am
Outrageous – when you read the 13yr olds testimony, think of YOUR 13 year old in this girls place – hey Hollywood – got any volunteers?

Well, not raping of course, but banging 13 years old kids is legal in Spain, really. Sometimes my country makes me sick.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:17 am
I would love to see the names of those who signed the petition. It is my choice if I ever see/support a film/movie they are in again. The fact that it was stated, what really upset them was he was “arrested at the film festival”. That is so ridiculous. It was a film festival not something sacred. Hollywood priorities just get more and more screwed up.
October 9th, 2009 at 8:53 am
SS: Geimer doesn’t want to prosecute because she was PAID OFF. That’s what the term “settlement” means. Polanski agreed to give her $500,000 and she, in turn, agreed to back down.
October 9th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
People seem to be forgetting, that what he is being extradited for has nothing to do with the victim. She\’s not even involved any longer. He\’s already been tried and convicted on THAT. He went fugitive to escape sentencing (the psychiatric evaluation behind bars was NOT the sentence), and that is what the warrant is for. If he\’d simply manned up and served whatever sentence the Judge handed down, this would have been over and done with decades ago. Instead he ran off like a lil\’ beeatch and made sure for the next 30 years he avoided countries that had extradition treaties with the USA.

Penelope Cruz look different in that vanity fair cover shoot , too much photoshopped and dear Pene Roma Polansky is a pervert why you are defending him .. espanola gilipollas!!
October 9th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
So let Polansky Rape them and see if they feel such goodwill…
October 9th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
I have absolutely no respect for these retarded degenerate so called celebrities, in my opinion there should not even be any discussion about whether or not polanski should go to jail, it is called statutory rape people, it means that even if the child had a flashing arrow pointing in the area of her hoo ha, a normal human being with any vestige of decency would have passed up on the offer, not drugged and raped her, she is not legally capable of consenting, and if I had my druthers her horrible mother who was apparently pimping her out should be on the stand right next to Polanski. I wonder how many of the people defending that monster would feel the same way about him if he had raped their children, oh , and the ‘he had a hard life defense doesnt wash either’, he didn’t spend much time mourning his murdered wife by all accounts

Actually, up until 2006 the money still had not been paid out to her. So, he\’s an even bigger asshole. And no matter how much money he pays her – if he ever does- he\’s still a paedophile.

polanski never did it. doesn´t matter what he said. but it´s interesting that the anti-semiters trust him in what he sais here about himself. it´s already known that racists trusts in the words of a minority if this person says something negative about herself while they distrust the same person if she says something positive about herself. This way it is easy to sort out the racists. It´s time to pay back for the racism against the afro-americans, members of the jewish society, the native americans, the aborigines, the sinti and roma, the disabled people and all the other minorities. And it will be fun to intrigue one racist against the other.

To all of the bleeding heart hollywood types who support this poor old man, PLEASE READ THE 36+/- pages of the grandjurry transcript posted on the web! If it was made into a movie it would be \"R\" at best and \"X\" at worst.
As far as the $ 500K that she \’was paid\’ for having sex at 13 with a perv, is it not VERY INTERESTING that he waited until she was 18! and ABLE TO SIGN (CONSENT!) to a contract. Will the court NOW ALSO CHARGE HIM with bribing a witness!??
If I had tried to do the same as he did would I have received the same punishment? The only difference between THAT PERV & me is that 1 of us is rick & famous (IMFAMOUS??) and 1 is just an average american.

CASTRATE HIM.
