Should David Letterman be fired?

David Letterman announced last night on his late night show that he was the victim of an extortion plot for $2 million. Emmy-winning producer Robert “Joe” Halderman was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted grand larceny in the first degree. (Read more, plus watch the video of Letterman talking about this.)
But today – there is a growing number of people yelling for David Letterman’s resignation. Why? Because he admits that he’s had affairs with women he works with. Affairs that happened while he was in a relationship with his wife (but apparently not since his son was born).
What do you think? Should David be fired? Does this change how you view Dave?

Why should Dave be fired? Since when do we fire people for being tacky? As long as these women weren’t sexually harassed or coerced under false terms relating to their job, they are consenting adults who chose to have relationships of a sexual nature with their boss. Unless there is something more lascivious at work here, which at the moment there does not appear to be, a growing number of people need to sit down and take a pill. If this were illegal or illicit, there would be lots of secretaries and employers out of a job. Are talk show hosts reaaly any different?

Exactly. Very well said.

Ditto. Thus far, there haven’t been any sexual harassment complaints filed against him, so we must assume, however sleazy his behavior, it was consensual. Case closed. Time to put this one to bed. (so to speak)

I think the one who should fire him is his wife!
