It was a gesture designed to show the world how in love they were, but Mariah Carey didn’t think much of Nick Cannon’s attempts to kiss her on Oprah.

The singer was being interviewed by talk show host Oprah Winfrey when her husband came onstage and gave his wife a peck on the cheek.

But Oprah complained: ‘Oh you did that “We’ve been married a long time kiss”. You didn’t give the real kiss, come on.’

They shared an exaggerated smooch as Nick bent her over, before an uncomfortable looking Mariah stopped him, saying: ‘Don’t drop me!’

Then she pushed him away.

Mariah, 39, wed R’n'B singer Nick, 28, in April 2008 after they met at the Teen Choice Awards in 2005.

Nick said of their marriage: ‘I wake up feeling like the luckiest, most blessed man every morning.’

And when Oprah asked about the 11-year age difference between them, he said: ‘Age ain’t nothing but a number.’

Nick, who said he had always had a crush on Mariah growing up, said he told her: ‘I’m like, ‘Give me a chance.”

He also revealed that he had proposed by hiding a ring inside a lavender pink lollipop, saying he popped the question as they looked the Empire State Building from her New York apartment roof.

It had been lit up in lavender pink colours to mark her 18th number one record.

Mariah also showed Oprah how to apply her perfume, Forever – by squeezing a few drops between her breasts, and told her that she could learn from her moves.

And she also showed off her wedding ring.

Mariah said: ‘He [Nick] designed it and I’m very proud of him.’

The pair appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show live from New York’s Central Park.

Oxygen announced it has ordered a pilot for Mr. & Mrs. Makeover, a new reality series that will feature Tori & Dean stars Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott giving couples complete makeovers in an effort to make their relationships more meaningful.

The network is billing the series as “part marriage counseling, part makeover” — as each couple featured will spend time with Spelling and McDermott in an effort to “use physical change both personally and in their surroundings to create a foundation to jumpstart their relationships.”

Mr. & Mrs. Makeover is being produced by World of Wonder — the same production company that produces Tori & Dean — with Spelling, McDermott and Wonder of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato serving as executive producers.

Mr. & Mrs. Makeover’s pilot pickup is part of a new multi-platform development deal Oxygen has signed with the former Beverly Hills 90210 actress and her husband.

The network has also ordered a second Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood’s second season — the fourth overall season of the couple’s Tori & Dean reality series — which will premiere Tuesday, May 26 at 10PM ET/PT.

In addition, Oxygen is also in the early stages of developing an original made-for-television movie starring Spelling and McDermott, who will also executive produce the romantic comedy.

The development deal also includes the production of original webisodes for Oxygen’s website based on “Mommywood” — Spelling’s new book that was published by Simon & Schuster and hit bookshelves earlier this month.

“Dean and I are thrilled to be extending our partnership with everyone at Oxygen who became like family when we embarked on this new television adventure,” said Spelling.

“Having the opportunity to reach our fans through this new series, special and especially our webisode venture, is very exciting and we look forward to working with their amazing team in the months ahead.”

Fergie has been hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit over allegations she stole her song Voodoo Doll from a track recorded by little-known reggae group Groundation.

The singer and her Black Eyed Peas bandmate will.i.am, who produced and co-wrote the 2006 tune, are being sued by record bosses at Grounded Music.

They claim the stars copied the beat from Groundation’s Each One Teach One, a song recorded in 2000 which Grounded Music owns the rights to.

According to legal papers obtained by TMZ.com, Grounded Music executives believe Fergie’s Voodoo Doll is “substantially and strikingly similar” to the band’s record and they are seeking unspecified damages.

Voodoo Doll was featured on Fergie’s debut solo album, The Dutchess.

Five months after his arrest for bringing heroin into a jail facility, Redmond O’Neal pleaded no contest Friday in a Santa Clarita, Calif., courtroom and was sentenced to a minimum of one year in a residential drug treatment program.

O’Neal, 24, son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett, is expected to be moved from the Pitchess Detention Center – where he was already serving time for violating his probation on drug charges – to the Impact Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center in Pasadena, Calif.

The plea was an expected component of his participation in Los Angeles County’s drug court. But the sentence carries stiff penalties for O’Neal if he slips up again. Superior Court Judge Graciela Freixes ordered three years of formal probation and a six-year suspended state prison sentence, meaning if O’Neal violates his probation in any way, he could go to prison for up to six years.

On April 5, O’Neal and a friend were visiting the Pitchess facility when sheriff’s deputies searched his car and found heroin. O’Neal admitted at the time that the drugs were his, and on Friday he pleaded no contest to possession of an illegal substance in a jail facility and admitted the allegation that he committed the offense while he was out on bail.

Who was at fault in a fender bender involving LeAnn Rimes and another driver on Thursday? The paparazzi, according to the singer’s rep.

“Due to the overzealous and very dangerous paparazzi following her, LeAnn was involved in a minor car accident,” the rep tells People. “The police were called and fortunately everyone is safe.”

The drama unfolded when Rimes, 27, was leaving Santa Monica shopping mecca Fred Segal. She was soon surrounded by several dozen paparazzi who were “starting to circle around her car,” says a source close to the singer. “She was scared by all the paparazzi following her and did not look up for a second because she was looking out the side of her window, and she did tap into the back of the other car.”

Calling it a “really, really minor accident,” the source says Rimes called police and exchanged information with the other driver – who climbed inside the singer’s car to avoid the photographers. “They’re going to work things out privately,” adds the source. “But the police were called and everyone was fine.”

This isn’t Rimes’s first recent traffic tangle. On Aug. 21 she was in a fender bender in which police were called. A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department says that case – involving a “very minor scrape between two vehicles” – has been closed “because no crime was committed.”

Rimes has been a special subject of interest for the paparazzi over her relationship with new beau Eddie Cibrian, 36. Rimes recently officially split from husband Dean Sheremet. Cibrian has filed for divorce from his wife Brandi Glanville.
