Christina Aguilera overcame the childhood pain she suffered at the hands of an abusive father by channelling her emotions into music.
The Beautiful hitmaker has opened up about her violent father Fausto in a new TV documentary, admitting that the U.S. army sergeant made life hell for her, her mother and sister Rachel.
She tells E!, “I witnessed a lot of unpleasant things – a lot of pushing and shoving and fighting and quarrelling. Growing up I did not feel safe. Feeling powerless is the worst feeling in the world. I turned to singing as an outlet. The pain at home is where my love for music came from.”
Aguilera’s mother, Shelly, describes the extent of the abuse in the documentary, recalling one horrific incident when she found a four-year-old Aguilera with blood dripping from her chin.
The singer’s mother says, “I scooped her up and said, ‘Oh my God. What’s wrong?’ She told me, ‘Daddy wanted to take a nap and I made too much noise.’”
Aguilera’s mother eventually fled from her violent husband, taking her daughters to live with their grandmother.
Her father has since begged forgiveness but the pop star has no desire to have a relationship with him, adding, “I let him back into my life briefly but I soon realised that he is not necessary in my life.”

Joined by dad Tom Cruise, Suri, Connor and Katie Holmes all went shopping at a Boston area boutique on September 20, 2009 where the famous pair treated the kids to quite the shopping spree!

Then later, Katie Holmes takes Suri Cruise out for some afternoon shopping on September 20, 2009 while papa Cruise worked on his latest film “Witchita”. By the looks of it, Suri is ready for her close up as she playfully sports some of mum’s lipstick as the pair walk around Boston.
Tom Cruise is re-teaming with his Vanilla Sky costar Cameron Diaz in Witchita:
At last, the wait is over. After acquiring several intriguing projects, and spending millions of dollars to rewrite them into perfection, Tom Cruise has decided on his next movie — and it’s “Wichita.”
According to Variety, Cruise has decided to pair up with Cameron Diaz for James Mangold’s action comedy. Not only does this end Cruise’s quest for his next project (and apparently it was a close call between this and Len Wiseman’s “Motorcade”), but it’s also a happy ending for the troubled “Wichita,” a film that has seen directors and stars come and go.
Cruise and Diaz both gave their approval to the final script, which underwent a recent rewrite by Scott Frank (“Minority Report”), and is now being smoothed out by Mangold and Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island.”) Variety previously reported that the story revolves around a single chick who has terrible luck with men, but meets a mysterious, handsome man on a blind date. Now we know that the mysterious man is actually a secret agent who pops in and out of the woman’s life. The film also has several new action scenes tailor-made for Cruise, pulling it out of the romantic comedy genre and into something that can attract a wider audience.
Now, let’s hope that the action scenes don’t shortchange Diaz’s character. I’d love it if this was all framed from her perspective, a play on Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible” persona to show the day-to-day perils of actually dating a secret agent. Just think of how many girls would abandon their Daniel Craig/James Bond fantasies after that!
