Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart helped Twilight win best movie romance and best kiss at the 2009 Teen Choice awards on Aug. 9. But things are even steamier between the two leads offscreen. After spending two difficult months apart while they worked on different projects 3,000 miles away from each other, on Aug. 5 the co-stars reunited for five blissful days in LA — and their romance was instantly back on. “From the way they act, it’s clear that Rob and Kristen are together — and in love,” says an insider who witnessed the meet-up. “It seems that they can’t stay away from each other.”
Robert and Kristen’s five-day PDA fest shocked more than just their die-hard fans. “I saw the pictures — getting in cabs together, going for lunch,” Nikki Reed, who plays Rosalie Hale in Twilight, said to Rob during their Alaska Airlines flight from LA to Vancouver on Aug. 10. “I thought you were going to keep it undercover?”
Confirming his relationship with Kristen, Rob whispered for Nikki to keep her voice down. But it appears there’s just no hiding the love between him and Kristen, especially now that they’re reunited for the 10-week Eclipse shoot. “Rob likes interesting, smart girls,” Justin Chon, who plays high school student Eric Yorkie in the Twilight saga, tells Life &Style. “I think once he finds the right girl, Rob’s a real relationship kind of guy.”
In their newest I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur campaign, PETA has chosen fab chick Nia Long to pose nude for the cause.
Nia says:
“In being a responsible adult and really understanding what happens for one fur coat and how many animals are killed and slaughtered for one fur coat, it just isn’t worth it to me.
When I became a mother, I started to really understand the importance of all living creatures in a way that I didn’t ever think about before. And I’ve realized how important it is that we really take responsibility for … treating animals with love and care just like we would any human being. There’s no difference, in my opinion, [between fur and] slavery or the Holocaust. It’s just that we’re not dealing with human beings, we’re dealing with animals, but it’s still a living thing.”
“I think my wife and I, we probably enjoy staying home more than most . . . I’m glad they didn’t have those camera phones seven or eight years ago [referring to his wilder single days]. When I go out now, I just watch what I’m doing.”
On wanting more kids:
“You march to your own beat for so long. It’s like, an hour commitment used to be a big commitment, and now you chase a little boy around for eight hours a day, waiting to catch him if he falls and changing his dirty diaper. You think, How crazy is this? I want a lot of kids. I’d love four or five. We’ll see. It’s not always my decision.”
“That’s not how you envisioned your life, that’s not how you envisioned having children, but it happens. But you’re not talking about a tragic event. You’re talking about a life. It’s what happens. And that’s forced me to grow up in a lot of ways, and in a lot of ways I’ve learned about the people around me, learned about my wife and about how important she is in my life, through this. You see what she’s really about. Because that’s not what she wanted either. But once again, it’s . . . I just don’t think . . . life is not what everyone . . . Life is not living in the suburbs with a white picket fence. That’s not life. Somehow our American culture has made it out that that’s what life needs to be — and that if it’s not that, it’s all screwed up. It’s not. You go through life and you try the best you can.”
On modeling being harder than playing football:
“When I’m out on the football field, I have so much confidence in what I’m doing. With [the modeling], I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m at the whim of the photographer and the crew.”
On being set-up on a blind date with Gisele:
“This friend told me he knew a girl version of me.” Gisele chimes in, “And he said to me he’d found a boy version of me.”
