Jon Gosselin is throwing a pool party in Las Vegas.

MGM Grand’s Wet Republic sent around an announcement Wednesday that read: “Jon Gosselin, America’s favorite father (Jon and Kate plus 8), is coming to Las Vegas for a little R&R and will be hosting poolside.”

The gathering will take place Aug. 29. A Vegas source tells Usmagazine.com Gosselin’s attendance has sparked as much interest as when Lindsay Lohan hosted her 23rd birthday at the hot spot in July.

Gosselin will be in Sin City with Christian Audigier to attend MAGIC, a clothing industry trade show. (He debuted his relationship with 22-year-old Hailey Glassman on the Ed Hardy designer’s yacht in the South of France last month.)

Audrina Patridge, Kendra Wilkinson, Kim Kardashian and Mario Lopez have also thrown soirees at Wet Republic.

There comes a time when all cowboys ride into the sunset – and for the popular country duo Brooks & Dunn, that time has come.

Earlier this week, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn announced that after their 2010 tour, fittingly called “The Last Rodeo,” they’ll go their separate ways.

But why, after a 20-year partnership, have they decided to split? “It’s too good a horse to ride it into the ground,” Brooks said Wednesday in Nashville during a taping of CMT’s Invitation Only special. “We’re still good friends. I’m proud to say we’ve never had a fight, never even yelled at each other. And that’s the truth.”

The duo fielded questions from the audience at the taping of the show, which is slated to air Sept. 1 on Dish Network and Oct. 30 on CMT. “We started as co-workers and realized we had whole lot in common,” Dunn said of the duo’s bond. “We’ve ended up more like brothers.”

Their new album, #1′s and then some, will be released Sept. 8 and they’ll hit the road for their farewell tour in 2010, then it’s off into the sunset. But both say there’s no animosity between them, and explain that their time together has simply run its course.

“It’s a good thing,” Brooks said of the split. “It’s just time.”

Solo Albums Ahead
Brooks recalled a point while putting together their new album when they just looked at each other and said, “You know what? I just think we’ve just kind of exhausted it.”

Though they’ve yet to publicly discuss plans for life after Brooks & Dunn, sources say both are working on solo albums.

“They’re both such creative, great guys. I don’t think this is the end or the last time you’ll hear from either one of them,” says Terry McBride, bassist in Brooks & Dunn’s band and a longtime friend who has co-written 11 of the duo’s hit singles. “They are one of the few acts that are actually going out on top. They are still current, still relevant and still having hits. That says a lot about them.”

Mariah Carey has hit a few bumps in the road with her new album, “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel”. Now she can add another bump to that list.

Apparently the songbird has pushed back her release date again. She posted this on her official website:

Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can’t wait for the fans to hear the new album !!

Jerry O’Connell has gone back to school, his rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

The actor, 35, recently enrolled at Los Angeles’ Southwestern Law School.

“He is very excited to be starting his law school education here at Southwestern,” Leslie Steinberg, the school’s Assistant Dean of Public Affairs, tells Us. “He just had orientation last week, and he started classes this week.”

Steinberg says that even though O’Connell — who welcomed twins with wife Rebecca Romijn last January — has “been out of school for awhile,” he’s “very excited and enthusiastic” about his studies.

She adds that O’Connell decided to enroll there because he was “very impressed with the faculty and the vibe here. This is brand new to him as well. He’s very much looking forward to his education.

A fellow student posted on Twitter earlier this week: “Actor Jerry O’Connell is at orientation @ Southwestern Law School. He is an entering night student, mingling @ mixer.”

Family comes first for Melissa Joan Hart. So when the Sabrina the Teenage Witch star’s mother, Paula, underwent an intense eight-hour surgery on a brain tumor in June, the actress and her family leaned on each other for support.

“I was beyond worried but had faith,” Melissa tells In Touch. “I had to be patient. It was tough. Having all six of my siblings there made it easier. We tried to distract ourselves with games in the waiting room. I even stupidly challenged my brother to a push-up competition!” Paula’s surgery was a success, but Melissa, 33, wanted to do more to help her mom’s recovery — so she and her husband, Mark Wilkerson, recently uprooted their family from Los Angeles to Connecticut to be closer to Paula. “We moved 3,000 miles away, we left behind our house and our friends — it’s very hard,” says Melissa. “But it’s for my mom!”

One aspect of Melissa’s life that’s on pause? The diet and exercise routine that resulted in her much-publicized 50-pound weight loss. “It’s hard because I’m stressed out with the move and everything and eating a lot of traveling food — Starbucks breakfasts, that kind of thing,” Melissa admits. “I have to find a new program here and fit it in my schedule, and just watch what I eat until I can get to the gym. It’s difficult, but I did it before and I can do it again!”
