Mischa Barton’s co-stars say she’s ready to work

Mischa Barton

After being placed under involuntarily psychiatric hold earlier this month, Mischa Barton is back at work and doing “great,” her costars on The Beautiful Life tell People.

“We had our first read-through [Wednesday] and we’re all so very excited to have her back. She’s such a great girl,” costar Sara Paxton said at Model Home Project’s pre-launch celebration for The Power of WE at The Gates in New York on Wednesday.

“We really didn’t talk about everything that’s been going on. It was really all work,” Paxton adds.

Costar Ben Hollingsworth admits the cast was just as much in the dark about the specific reason behind Barton’s hospitalization as anyone else. “We were all worried about her. We didn’t really know what was going on, but she’s looking great. She’s feeling great and it’s just good to have her back,” he says. “We start shooting again on Friday and she’s ready to work. We’re all ready to jump into it and are very excited – even Mischa.”

Hollingsworth believes Barton’s new role may help her cope with all that’s been going on in her life.

“She’s gone through it more than anyone in the cast and her character in the show is very intertwined into that lifestyle. I think she’s going to be able to draw on a lot of real-life experiences that she’s had to go through with paparazzi, rumors, and invasion of privacy and all that comes in the public eye,” he says.

As for Hollingsworth’s role on the show: “My character is basically based on Ashton Kutcher (who created the show) and how he experienced life as a model coming to New York from Iowa.”

The Beautiful Life debuts on the CW in September.

Nikki Reed: Why girls love Robert Pattinson

Nikki Reed

She may not know anything about losing Rachelle Lefevre as a Twilight castmate, but Nikki Reed has a pretty good idea why fans swoon for costar Robert Pattinson.

With news still fresh on Lefevre being replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in Eclipse, the third film of the popular series, Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale, tells People she hasn’t “talked to [Lefevere] yet.” “I don’t know anything about it other than a schedule conflict,” said Reed at the Express TXT L8TR Campaign party at Nobu in West Hollywood Wednesday night – the same day the news broke of the switch.

Summit Entertainment defended the decision Thursday to use Howard as the villainous vampire Victoria due to Lefevre’s commitment to the Dustin Hoffman film Barney’s Version, which is slated to film at the same time as Eclipse.

But one thing is for sure: No one will be replacing Pattinson as Edward Cullen, as fans are absolutely dedicated to the actor. Why does Reed think he’s got such a following? “Rob is sort of feminine looking and I think young girls like boys that look like women,” she said.

New Moon, the second film in the four part series, premieres Nov. 20.

Kate Gosselin Plans to Stay Close to Her Kids

Kate Gosselin

Despite numerous reports that Kate Gosselin either has purchased or is considering purchasing a condo in Rockville, Md., a source close to the reality star says the mother of eight is absolutely not making a move that would put her miles away from her children.

“She is not buying or renting in the area,” says the source. “Kate was having lunch there, and after spending a total of one hour in a restaurant that has condos for sale above it, a rumor began that somehow, suddenly, she was buying a condo there. She didn’t even know there were apartments for sale there. It’s totally false.”

There have been no records of a purchase in Gosselin’s name recorded in the area, and a sales representative at the condos where she was rumored to have toured said she’d never been shown the one new unit currently for sale.

While Gosselin and her estranged husband Jon have agreed to alternate in and out of the home they once shared so that their kids can stay put, Jon has already moved in to a New York City bachelor pad. Kate is still deciding where to settle when she’s away from her family.

“One thing is certain,” says a friend of Kate. “Kate absolutely will not live far from her family, ever. Period. She would never choose to be so far from home.”

Kim Kardashian: “I’m Doing OK” After Split

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian says she’s “doing OK” after splitting from beau Reggie Bush earlier this week.

“I just want to let you all know that I truly appreciate all the love and support I’ve been receiving over the last 48 hours,” Kardashian wrote on her blog today.

“I just want you all to know I’m doing okay, and I really appreciate your support,” she went on. “I’ve been reading all your comments and I really have the best fans ever! I love you guys!”

On Monday, Kardashian’s rep confirmed to Usmagazine.com the couple called it quits. The reality star, 28, began dating Bush, 24, the running back for the New Orleans Saints, in April 2007.

“Nobody cheated,” a source told Us then. “This is just a case of conflicting schedules and their lives going in different directions.”

Jennifer Aniston is going after younger men

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston is on the prowl for younger men … in an upcoming romantic comedy, that is.

According to Variety, the actress, 40, has signed to headline Pumas, which centers on two thirtysomething women who make a habit of romancing younger men. The ladies “take a French skiing vacation that challenges their romantic expectations,” the trade reports. (Interestingly, Aniston’s real-life BFF, Courteney Cox, will play an older woman looking for a younger man in the fall ABC sitcom, Cougar Town.)

Anison first mentioned the project in December’s Vogue — the same issue where she said comments Angelina Jolie made about Brad Pitt were “uncool” — describing it as a “female Wedding Crashers.”

“It is so a comment on the sexual double standard, and what’s been ironic is how hard it’s been to get this movie made… Studios want it, but they are afraid of Middle America,” Aniston later told January’s GQ. “They’d want to change it; they’re saying, ‘Oh, you can’t do that, people just can’t imagine you…”

Aniston told GQ that “there are too many movies out there that don’t empower women, movies in which their only way of being happy is finding a man. And you know, that’s not my favorite theme.”

Pumas is the latest project for Aniston.

She recently wrapped the comedy The Baster with Jason Bateman and is currently shooting The Bounty Hunter in NYC with Gerard Butler.

Debbie Rowe’s Attorney Applauds Her “Selflessness” Settling Custody

Debbie Rowe

A lawyer for Debbie Rowe is pleased with the way she handled herself while reaching a custody deal with the Jackson family over the late singer’s children.

“The parties engaged in a dignified discussion that resulted in a dignified outcome,” attorney Eric George tells Usmagazine.com in a statement Thursday. “The sole consideration between the parties was the best interests of the children. I’m proud to have worked with such professionals who represented Ms. Jackson, and I am particularly proud of Deborah for her integrity and selflessness.”

Added Katherine Jackson’s attorneys, L. Londell McMillan and Diane Goodman: “Mrs. Jackson and the family are pleased this matter is resolved and was handled in a caring, thoughtful and courteous manner by the parties and their representatives. We were all united in our goals to do what is best for Michael’s wonderful children, and both Mrs. Jackson and Debbie Rowe were on the exact same page. Accordingly, although important issues had to be resolved, this was no legal contest but rather simply a process doing the right thing for the right reasons.”

Their attorneys also confirmed details from Thursday morning’s custody report. Under the terms of the parties’ agreement:

Katherine Jackson shall be the guardian for the minor children;

Deborah Rowe shall exercise visitation rights with the two oldest children, Prince, 11, and Paris, 12. The timing, frequency and manner of visits shall be implemented according to the best interests of the children, as determined by a child psychologist selected jointly, and paid jointly, by Katherine Jackson and Deborah Rowe.

The parties have neither sought nor agreed to any compensation to be exchanged, apart from the continuation of spousal support payments that had previously been personally agreed to between Michael Jackson and Deborah Rowe.

Jessica Simpson’s TV Career Took a Backseat to Football

Tony Romo & Jessica Simpson

Production on Jessica Simpson’s reality show is up in the air after her split from Tony Romo, the new issue of Us Weekly reports.

“The plan was to shoot most of it around Tony’s football schedule so she could support him through the season,” a show staffer on The Price of Beauty — which chronicles Simpson’s worldwide search for true beauty — tells Us.

“Now they’re busy redoing the whole shooting schedule,” continues the source. (It’s still set to premiere on VH1 March 2010.)

The new issue of Us also reports Romo had been sending “flirty texts” to a younger, skinner Simpson look-alike, Natalie Smith, while still dating the singer. He even introduced Smith to Simpson at one of her February concerts.

“We hung out for, like 10 to 15 minutes, backstage,” Smith tells Us. “She was cool and nice.”

A Smith source tells Us Romo, 29, and Smith, 22, “are not officially dating, but they are having an intimate relationship.”

Romo dumped Simpson on July 9, the eve of her 29th birthday.

Now, a sign hangs in the security booth of his Dallas gated community that reads: “RED ALERT!!! TONY ROMO HAS MADE SOME CHANGES TO HIS LIST OF PEOPLE ALLOWED IN….JESSICA IS NO LONGER ON THE LIST AND NOT APPROVED FOR ACCESS.”

Simpson spent $19,000 to ship 37 boxes of her belongings overnight to Los Angeles on July 15.
