What happened to Kim and Reggie?
The reality star and her boyfriend of two-plus years, NFL running back Reggie Bush, called it quits just as some friends and family members were starting to think they would go the distance and marry.
“Sure there was pressure and talk about their future,” says one reliable source. “But they were always really good about not letting it get to them. Kim totally thought she would marry Reggie. She hoped that.”
But as of late, little signs kept coming up and time apart seemed to be taking a toll. “There was always that thought in the back of their minds that maybe they just couldn’t make it work,” says the source.
One big stumbling block: conflicting career obligations. Both Kim, 28, and Reggie, 24, are incredibly ambitious, says the source, and neither wanted the other to have to give anything up. The result was lots of time apart. “Reggie really wanted her in New Orleans when he was there playing but Kim is traveling more than ever. She has so much going on, it just wasn’t physically possible for her to be there the entire season. With their schedules, it wasn’t realistic anymore.”
Nor, apparently, was the idea of a long-distance romance. “It just wasn’t fair to either of them,” the source adds. “They wanted it to be all or nothing.”
“They’re both doing okay,” says the source. But just okay: “When you care that much about someone and spend that much time working at something, of course it hurts to move on.”

Christian Bale is at it again – the actor has downsized his physique for his new role as a drug addicted boxer in The Fighter.
Known for his uncanny ability to re-sculpt his body for his movie roles, the Welsh-born actor, who just last month looked handsome and healthy, has gone to extremes to portray fighter Dicky Eklund, opposite Mark Wahlberg and Amy Adams.
“I will adjust to what is needed. But only if I have quite an obsession for the role,” Bale told People in 2005.
Bale revealed he relied on a diet of apples, coffee and cigarettes for his role as insomniac, Trevor Reznik, in The Machinist. The actor lost 63 pounds for the film, which was a third of his body weight.
Five months after that weight-defying role, Bale switched gears and bulked up for his superhero turn as Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. A feat that put a lot of pressure on his body – both physically and emotionally.
“I think that putting weight on – unfortunately I had to put it on pretty fast and it’s not really healthy doing that – is when I felt bad. I put on 100 pounds in like five months,” Bale said at the time. “You get big mood swings and everything with it.”
Let’s just hope his body – and moods – can handle one more big change because as of now a third installment in the Batman franchise is in the works.

Aspiring actress and Florida model Samantha Burke is the mother of Jude Law’s fourth child, her attorney says.
“Ms. Burke can confirm that she did in fact have a relationship with Mr. Law and that she has informed Mr. Law that she is expecting his child later this fall,” the lawyer, who is not identified, tells TMZ.com. “Since informing Mr. Law of the pregnancy, he has been nothing but responsive and supportive of Ms. Burke and the pregnancy.”
A Florida friend of Burke’s also tells People that the model told her she was “pregnant from Jude Law.”
Law’s rep declined to comment.
On Wednesday, the actor, who has three children with ex-wife Sadie Frost, announced he was expecting a fourth child with an unidentified former lover.
Law, 36, next will appear in Hamlet on Broadway in October, and will star with Robert Downey Jr. in the film Sherlock Holmes opening on Christmas Day.

Two police chiefs have been arrested for allegedly devising a plan to break into the home of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s surrogate.
Martins Ferry Police Chief Barry Carpenter and Bridgeport Police Chief Chad Dojack were booked into the Belmont County, Ohio jail at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports. The two men — who posted bond shortly after their arrests and were released — allegedly planned to dig up information on the woman who carried the couple’s babies to sell to a tabloid.
Charges made against the men had not been released. Court officials indicated that no information is available if the case was reviewed by a grand jury – where proceedings are confidential – but that charges should become public Friday when the men are arraigned.
“Matthew and Sarah Jessica have complete faith in the legal system,” Broderick’s publicist said in June when the investigation began. “But because it’s a criminal investigation, we will not be making any more comment. What I can say is the entire family looks forward to the healthy delivery of their daughters later on this summer.”
Parker and Broderick welcomed twin girls — named Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick — via the surrogate on June 22.

After a long, very public proceeding, Hulk Hogan and former wife Linda Bollea finalized their divorce and reached an undisclosed settlement on Monday evening. While the terms were not made public, the couple’s net worth in 2008 was believed to be between $26 million and $32 million (as filed in court) and it sounds as though Mrs. Bollea walked away with quite the bulk of funds.
“Linda received an outstanding settlement result and I think both parties had compromised but Linda is extremely happy with the settlement,” her attorney Ray Rafool told Tarts. “It was bittersweet and it was also a relief and as Linda said, in every grey cloud there is a silver lining so I think for both of them, they were very relieved to be on the same page and they were very relieved that they would have this chapter of their life behind them.”
And it turns out that Hulk was the one who reached out to his wife of 25 years to make peace.
“Hulk is the one that originally came to Linda and said lets try to put this whole case aside and lets resolve this, essentially Hulk was the one that came to us with this peace offering which we gladly accepted,” Rafool added. “He said he still loves Linda and he’s happy that they’re forever getting this resolved. These people are business partners now and will be business partners in the future.”
While the divorced duo will still have a professional relationship, the semi-retired celebrity wrestler still wants some sort of personal relationship too.
“Hulk is looking forward to moving on with his life and is very hopeful that he and Linda can maintain a friendship and work together as parents to their two children,” a rep for Hogan told Tarts.

Guessing which of the judges will be back on American Idol next season has become a popular game.
And yeah, we’re having trouble keeping track of the rumors, reports and whispers, too.
However, we can tell ya that Kara DioGuardi will be back for season nine of the hit reality show…
“Her deal is done. There are no ifs, ands or buts,” a source said. “Done. She will be back.”
No surprise, but the source reports that DioGuardi’s new deal doesn’t even come close to what the other judges are getting or, in Paula Abdul’s case, asking for.
DioGuardi is set to start shooting a new season of auditions in the next week or so. Reps for DioGuardi and the show declined to comment.
Even if Ms. Abdul is still hammering out a deal, we have a feeling all will be worked out in the end and all four judges will return.
