Mad Men star January Jones admits she’s been having trouble filling out the girdle of the curvy late ‘60s character she portrays on the critically acclaimed AMC show — and it’s gotten her in hot water with producers.

“I got told a couple of days ago that I look too skinny, and I was in trouble,” January sheepishly told reporters at the July 28 party for the AMC network. “I’m naturally pretty thin, so I’m trying,” the beautiful blonde actress said, showing reporters she was drinking an Amstel Light beer at the party.

Also, January says, “I eat whatever is at craft services. I’m a big eater. I’m from South Dakota, so meat, potatoes, carbs.” The star notes that to maintain Mad Men’s early ‘60s look, in which women definitely had more meat on their bones, she and the other actresses are “encouraged NOT to work out. We want soft; we don’t want any muscle definition.”

January’s character, who is married to advertising guru Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, is pregnant during the show’s third season, premiering August 16. It has affected her wardrobe: “We’ve done a little bit less petticoats and it’s been really fun.

“They tell us to gain weight, gain weight, gain weight, because they want a soft, voluptuous woman which they were [back then] which is beautiful, as it should be.”

In the wake of her heartbreaking split from Tony Romo on the eve of her 29th birthday earlier this month, Jessica Simpson has decided that the way to get the sweetest revenge on her former sweetheart is to sweat off some pounds at the gym.

“Right after Tony ended things, Jessica said, ‘I want my old body back,’” a friend of the singer reveals in the new issue of OK!.“She went into her kitchen, got a trash bag and started to clear it out.”

And getting rid of the bad food isn’t the only way she’s slimming down. Jessica has been spotted several times in the last two weeks heading to celeb trainer Harley Pasternak’s West Hollywood fitness center.

“Jess is serious about getting her body back into fighting shape,” her pal reveals to OK!. “Working out is helping to give her focus and clear her head. It’s better than sitting around moping or throwing pity parties with ice cream sundaes.”

And the results are already starting to show — Jessica, whose weight fluctuations have often been the subject of water-cooler discussion, dropped 10 pounds in just the first 10 days of working out!

“She doesn’t want to give anyone more reason to not take her seriously,” explains the pal. “She’s tired of weight being a talking point.”

“She’s not nude,” her sister Holly Montag told Usmagazine.com Monday at Ryan Sheckler X Games Celebrity Classic in Coto De Caza, Calif. “Her Maxim cover was so gorgeous and tasteful, and I know Playboy is going to be the same. It’s really cool that she can be part of the Playboy family. I love it. I go up there all the time and play poker. I love the girls there, and it’s very cool to be a part of that legacy.”

She is equally psyched for her sister to perform at the 2009 Miss Universe Pageant telecast on Aug. 23.

“She will kill it,” Holly said. “I know she will give the best performance ever. She’s a phenomenal performer and dancer. That’s what she’s born to do. I think when she’s stepping into her own in singing and concerts, people will see that that’s where she really shines.”

Oh, and how are things with her new brother-in-law Spencer Pratt?

“We’re actually getting along really well right now,” Holly told Us. “I don’t want to jinx it, but he’s been awesome as a brother and better than ever.”

More than two years after her first date with football star Reggie Bush, Kim Kardashian was hoping a diamond ring would be in her future. Instead, she’s left with only heartache. On July 27, Kim’s rep confirmed to Life & Style that the couple had broken up. The split caught friends and family by surprise. And no wonder: In April, a glowing Kim, 28, couldn’t stop gushing about Reggie, 24, during her Life & Style cover photo shoot. “I have no doubt we’ll get married,” she told Life & Style. “We’re both young, so it won’t be for a while, but I want to be a mom before I’m 30.”

While the split seemed sudden, the relationship had its problems. The biggest issue? The distance. Reggie’s team, the Saints, is based in New Orleans, and Reggie travels to play all around the country. Meanwhile, Kim lives in LA but often travels the globe for work. “It really wasn’t sudden,” says a friend of Reggie’s. “For the past few months, it’s been clear that although Reggie and Kim love each other, the distance had put a wedge in their relationship.” And the decision to split wasn’t an easy one. “The decision was mutual,” another friend of Reggie’s says. “They talked and talked about it, and they decided this was the only answer. It was tough, but they decided this was the only way to go.”

Kim’s hoping their time apart serves as a break, not a break-up. “Kim believes they can work it out,” a friend of Kim’s tells Life & Style. “She knows she’s been selfish and hasn’t put enough time into the relationship because she’s so focused on her career. She feels terrible about it — but she hopes more than anything this time will be spent working on the issues that came between them.”

Bachelorette Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski say they’ll likely wed sometime next year.

On Tuesday’s Bachelorette: After the Final Rose special, the couple also revealed she would ditch Canada and move in to her fiance’s Chicago apartment Sept. 1.

“It feels good so far, and I’m just excited to really get out there [together],” said Ed, 29, adding that they’ve only been apart about five days total so far this summer.

“I’m in a very good place right now,” said a bubbly Jillian. “I’m so lucky.”

“I think we’re just such a great team, whatever works for the two of us, works for the two of us,” she added.

Said Ed, “We’re certainly going to get married within the next 12 months.”

After an audience member asked about the night in the fantasy suite when Jillian and Ed didn’t have a passionate connection, she said things are different these days.

“No bedroom problems,” said Jillian.

The special also featured Jillian’s other men, Kiptyn and Reid, who wanted answers on why Harris didn’t pick them.

“What could I have done differently?” Kiptyn asked Harris.

“You didn’t do anything wrong,” Jillian replied. “You’re somebody that made me feel very loved.”

He said her rejection was “crushing.”

Reid — who made a surprising return from elimination and even popped the question — also wanted to know why she passed him up. He said he thought his proposal would be a “slam dunk.”

“When I came back, was there a part of you that wanted to say ‘yes’?” Reid asked.

Replied Jillian, “I think you know I knew that when I let you go I wasn’t ready to let you go.”
