Singer Susan Boyle was being treated for exhaustion at a mental health clinic Monday after taking second place in a TV talent competition that turned the humble church volunteer into a global star, the show’s producers and a newspaper said.
Boyle had looked tense and uncomfortable after giving a strong final performance Saturday night with “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables — the same song she chose for her April debut.
Boyle was admitted to London’s Priory Clinic on Sunday, a day after she finished behind a male dance group on the show “Britain’s Got Talent,” the Sun newspaper reported.
“Nobody has had to put up with the kind of attention Susan has had. Nobody could have predicted it,” one of the show’s judges, Piers Morgan, told breakfast TV show GMTV. “It has been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history.”
The Priory — one of a chain of clinics known for treating celebrities including fashion model Kate Moss and musician Pete Doherty — offers treatment for a range of psychiatric problems as well as drug and alcohol addiction.

A catfight of epic proportions could have occurred over the weekend —if only Madonna had cared enough to let it happen.
Kate showed up at the Veuve Clicquot’s Manhattan Polo Classic on Governors Island Saturday afternoon, disguised in a floppy hat and huge sunglasses and told party guests that she didn’t want to be recognized.
“Kate was completely intimidated by Madonna,” said one guest. “She clearly didn’t want trouble and decided to keep a low profile for the rest of the match.”
Said a second guest, “I didn’t even see Kate Hudson again after Madonna arrived. She ran away! But if I were dating Madonna’s ex, I’d be scared, too!”
While Hudson hung out in the back of the tent, Madonna rocked her royal status. After showing up in a black Mercedes-Benz with several NYPD escorts, she held court with boy toy Jesus Luz, her kids Rocco Ritchie and David Banda, as well as pals Marc Jacobs, Lorenzo Martone and photographer Steven Klein.
“Madonna literally didn’t care,” said a third eyewitness.
“She showed up with no makeup, a dowdy outfit and her hair pulled up in a ponytail. She doesn’t need to compete with Kate, because she will always be Queen Bee.”

Surprise! It looks like Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt can’t handle reality. The couple tried to quit I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! the very first day they arrived in Costa Rica to shoot the “C-Listers in distress” reality show, which premieres Monday.
“They wanted to be treated like stars. [Spencer] literally thought he and Heidi were staying in a Four Seasons, working out and getting a tan.”
The two refused to eat the same food as the rest of the cast, and complained about being teamed with low-wattage stars, among them Janice Dickinson, Stephen Baldwin, Lou Diamond Phillips, former NBA star John Salley and Sanjaya Malakar.
“I wish they got some real celebrities like K-Fed,” groused Montag, per the network insider.
