Below is the article that was sent to me from In Touch Weekly… I didn’t write this, this is their take on the situation.  Personally, I don’t think that spanking her daughter should fall under the “losing control” category, but that’s just me. I know there’s a lot of debate over spanking these days, but I think it’s really sad this made the cover of the magazine.

Can you imagine having to spank your child, and having paparazzi there to catch it? That’s terrible! I know Kate’s not a saint, but man I feel for her. She can’t go right in the public’s eye. Everything she does makes the front page of the tabloids.

On camera, TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Kate Gosselin tries to portray herself as a supermom who can handle taking care of 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets. These exclusive new photographs show that Kate’s composed demeanor may just be a facade. Behind the scenes, she seems to be unraveling. Around 11 a.m. on June 13, a witness spotted Kate, 34, and the children playing outside of their Reading, Pa., home. When Leah, one of the sextuplets, started blowing a whistle loudly, Kate told her to stop because she was on the phone. But as soon as Leah blew on the whistle again, Kate “seemed to lose her temper” and said, “Did you not hear me?” Then she stormed over to her daughter, grabbed her and hit her. “The girl was screaming and crying,” the witness adds. “Kate just pushed her away and walked off with her coffee. Her older sisters were trying to make Leah feel better.”

For years, spanking has been one of the most controversial issues in parenting. Most childcare experts now agree that hitting is not an effective form of discipline. Although spanking is not against the law, Jordan Riak (who does not treat the Gosselins), executive director of Project NoSpank, who has studied the effects of physical punishment on children for more than 30 years, believes it should be. “Spanking can be child abuse,” he tells In Touch. “It has many long-term, lasting effects. It damages brain development in children under 7 and can lead to poor life decisions down the line. It can cause behavior problems, health problems and issues managing emotions.” But in a public statement, Kate shows no remorse for the incident, saying how she disciplines her children in public or private is her decision.

The family are on vacation on the beautiful island of Maui. Tori was sporting a pink bikini and looked very thin. Dean and Liam wore boardshorts and rash vests. They splashed around in the water for a few moments before heading back to their hotel.

Who knew Taylor Swift could rap?

Swift and T-Pain kicked off last night’s CMT Awards in Nashville with a hilarious duet, “Thug Story” — a spinoff of her hit song, “Love Story.” (Watch above.)

“I’m 8-foot 4, blonde hair to the floor,” she rhymes. “I ain’t got a gun. I never really been in a club. Still live with my parents, but I’m still a thug!”

T-Pain — rocking his famous Auto-Tune voice — adds: “It’s a thug story, can you handle that?”

Before the show, T-Pain told Us that working with Swift (who won Video of the Year and Female Vide of the Year for “Love Story”) was “pretty awesome.

“She has a sense of humor that I have not seen in many people,” he added.

Brad Paisley was the big winner on last night’s award show. He took home three awards: CMT Performance of the Year, Male Video of the Year and Collaboration of the Year for “Start a Band,” his Keith Urban duet.

Rascal Flatts won Group Video of the Year for “Every Day, Sugarland won Duo of the Year for their “All I Want to Do” and Zac Brown Band won Breakthrough Video for “Chicken Fried.”

Vanessa Hudgens will be starring in two new films – Bandslam and Sucker Punch.

She talks of her character, Sam in Bandslam, and describes her as, “a lot darker [than Gabriella in High School Musical]” which “automatically drew her in.”

In the 2nd film Sucker Punch, Vanessa gleefully explains that she “gets to be a sexy woman and kick ass”. She continues,”It’s totally my Angelina Jolie part. People are either going to love me for doing it or hate me for doing it, but I’m very excited”.

Vaness’a equally thrilled about buying her first place in LA’s Studio City district. Vanessa comments on the interior design and says, “a lot of the ideas are mine . It’s very bohemian and fits my whole personality”.

As for whether she has considered moving in with Zac Efron, her High School Musical co-star and boyfriend, she just shrugs, “I’m young, I should have my own place. I think that everybody should buy their own home on their own”.

Talking of her style she describes it as alternating between “bohemian chic” and “rocker chic”. She goes on to say ” I am no label whore and for the most part, I dress for myself”. However, she does admit to having a stylist, Deborah Waknin, that she says she is in “love with” as she “completely gets” her fashion sense.

Vanessa’s fashion inspirations run from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (“they take crazy chances and I love them for that) to Nicole Richie (“She does the whole bohemian thing so well”) and Kate Moss (“She does bohemian and rocker put together. So I feel like I’m in that area”).

Her future goals include working with big-name directors such as Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Martin Scorsese and Guillermo del Toro. With her go-getter attitude perhaps it won’t be too long until she achieves these goals, as she says, ‘If there’s something I really want, I go for it,” She adds. “Staying focused and knowing what I want is hopefully going to keep me on the right path.”
