In what sounds like the plotline of a romantic comedy, a Massachusetts woman fished Tom Brady out of the water.

The breathtaking rescue operation took place after the New England Patriots quarterback and his wife, Gisele Bündchen, went kayaking in the Charles River – and Brady fell in.

To save the day: local schoolteacher Robin Leeds.

“We were tying up our boat to a buoy and the boat boy came over and said, ‘You are never going to guess who is on the Charles renting kayaks right now … Do you want to go check it out?’ ” Leeds told Boston’s Channel 7 News. “I said, ‘Yeah.’ ”

While stargazing in a motorboat, Leeds saw that Brady was missing from his kayak – and in the water. So she pulled him into her boat.

“I actually asked him why he fell in. He said he was racing one of his friends,” said Leeds, who found Brady “really friendly, really appreciative that we fished him out of the Charles.”

All in all, a memorable moment. Afterward, Leeds said, “I talked with Gisele. We talked about how beautiful the weather it was.” And she asked Brady if he would pose for a photo with her.

“Of course,” she said he replied, also telling her, “you saved my life.”

It’s a dilemma most of us have probably faced at one time or another: Should you get involved when you see a parent or caregiver yelling at a crying child? For Liv Tyler, the answer is definitely yes. On Wednesday, paparazzi captured the actress as she confronted an older woman who was allegedly being less than motherly (or, in this case, grandmotherly) to a bawling toddler.

Liv, who is mom to 4-year-old son Milo, was driving solo in Los Angeles when she saw the woman hollering and swatting the stroller-bound tyke on the chest, according to X17Online.com, which says she immediately braked, made a U-turn and hopped out to give the lady a piece of her mind.

“You can’t do that!” she reportedly told the woman. “I’m going to call the police. I’m going to call child services!”

But there was apparently a language barrier, because the ostensible babysitter repeatedly replied, “No entiendo” (“I don’t understand”).

Tyler was snapped bending over to console the distressed tot before heading back to her car, looking visibly upset.

“When I saw that, I couldn’t take it,” she told the shutterbugs. “I had to do something.”

When we contacted Liv’s rep for comment, he confirmed X17′s account of the incident.

This appears to be an example of the statuesque star putting her passion for child advocacy into immediate action: She’s been a UNICEF ambassador since 2003.

Spotted … “Gossip Girl” star Leighton Meester having sex with her BF… on video.

We’ve learned a Meester tape is being shopped around town. It was shot a few years back, and shows Leighton in mostly innocuous though nude scenes — with several big exceptions … one involving her very talented feet.

We’re told a company called celebhotline.com is negotiating for the video. The company’s spokesperson, Kevin Blatt told us, “We’ve seen the tape and we’re hoping to close the deal.”

Having maintained a low profile since the death in January of her and husband John Travolta’s 16-year-old son, Jett, Kelly Preston is quietly doing movie work, assuming her role as the mother of Miley Cyrus’ character in the coming-of-age film, The Last Song, say news reports.

Shooting is taking place in Savannah, Georgia. Greg Kinnear is also in the cast, playing an estranged father.

Preston, 46, will also be seen this November in Old Dogs with Matt Dillon and Robin Williams. Travolta, 55, did not participate in the recent promotion of his current film with Denzel Washington, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 but expressed his appreciation to those on the production who, he said on his Web site, “stepped up without hesitation to help promote this wonderful film … their unselfish efforts have allowed my family the additional time to reconcile our loss.”

I know I’m sad to see T.R. Knight leaving the show. George is one of my favorite characters.

When asked for a statement on the tough decision to leave, he said this:

“Leaving Grey’s Anatomy was not an easy decision for me to make. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play this character and will miss my fellow cast and crew very much. I continue to wish them the very best, and wholeheartedly thank all of the fans who have supported me and the show with such passion and enthusiasm.”

Series creator Shonda Rhimes just followed with her own statement:

“I think I speak for the entire Grey’s Anatomy family when I say we wish T.R. Knight the best in his future endeavors. He is an incredibly talented actor and a person whose strength of character is admired by all of us.”

I wonder if they’re going to revive George played by someone else. I’ll miss T.R., either way.

LeAnn Rimes isn’t looking to get unhitched.

That’s what the singer’s rep, Rhett Usry, told E! News in response to an In Touch Weekly report that claimed Rimes’ hubby, Dean Sheremet, was “distraught and heartbroken” because his missus had told him she was ready to make a break.

“Contrary to any tabloid rumors, LeAnn is not seeking a divorce,” Usry said.

So she’s probably not messing around with the guy she had dinner with last night, either.

The “How Do I Live” songstress was spotted at a Los Angeles sushi restaurant with a mystery man and another couple, but according to a witness, nothing about the duo’s behavior implied a romantic connection.

But really, Rimes should watch who she shares a meal with. She just barely finished shooting down rumors that she hooked up with her married Northern Lights costar, Eddie Cibrian, and was stalking his wife.
