Jon & Kate Gosselin slammed for announcing their split on TV
Friends and family of Jon and Kate Gosselin are slamming the couple for revealing their split on their reality show Monday.
“We’re just so heartbroken and sad about the announcement that they made — an announcement that could be so life-shattering to a young child,” Kate’s brother, Kevin Kreider, tells RadarOnline.com. “And it was used as a teaser, used to gain ratings, without any regards for my nieces and nephews. It was really hurtful. We were really sad to see that.”
Adds their onetime neighorbod, Denis: “I do feel bad for the children. Hopefully they will be civil and everything for the kids sake. He needs to get away from her and run as fast as he can. The kids are the ones who will suffer, and that is the sad part.”
Jon’s former Wyomissing Area Junior/Senior High School classmate Dominick Fabrizio tells Usmagazine.com: “Jon thinks ‘it is a shame what the world has come to’ with the paparazzi surrounding his $1.1-million home that he would not even have without that very public attention. Now that the charade is over, maybe the remaining 30 percent of the viewers still watching will realize no one should be taking life advice from Jon or Kate. I won’t be lining up for an autographed book anytime soon.”
Critics echo similar sentiments.
Maggie, from the Gosselins Without Pity Web site, tells Us: “I cannot see how announcing your divorce on national television and continuing with the show is in any way putting your children first. I feel sorry for the family, but the parents seem very immature and selfish and far more concerned about their own personal needs than what eight little confused children require emotionally. I can’t believe TLC will keep running the show, but they will!”
Adds the Baltimore Sun’s David Zurawik: “I wonder if [viewers] feel exploited by TLC selling ads and making millions of dollars out of a show announcing a divorce that will not only leave eight kids with a shattered family — but a video record of their family coming undone that will define them for the rest of their lives. I’m done with this sick carnival side show.”
The Los Angeles Times’ Jon Caramanica sarcastically wonders if the show will be renamed Jon Plus 8 when he’s in charge, and Kate Plus 8 when she has custody.
The show will never be the same, he goes on.
“Now that the Gosselins have formally initiated divorce proceedings, never again will the show’s title trigger a sense of optimism and possibility, only a burden that was probably impossible all along,” Caramanica writes.

TLC has announced the show is on hiatus until August…I think that is the first postive thing I have heard regarding all of this.

Yeah, they at least need to put this on hold for now. But imagine how interesting (albeit sad) a divorced version of the show would be…

I hate Kate. Even though Jon isn’t entirely innocent either, Kate is a monster and an ogre. She is nothing more than a repulsive money hungry beast. The only thing this hypocrite cares about is herself and what she can make from this show. How horrible, for their own family to hear this shit on TV? To hell with the both of them. Selfish, horrible human beings with no hearts. I feel horrible for the kids. God watch over them and give them some sense of stability now.
Kate, is the downfall of all this. Even though I don’t condone cheating, if I were in Jon’s position, I would have cheated as well. She belittled him in front of viewers. This is your husband, and you disrespect, degrade and belittle him and put him to shame in front of strangers like you’re talking a dog. It really says something about her character when not ONE person from her past or even present, can say ONE nice thing about her. Not one.
Well Kate, you are now America’s Most Hated… And you’ll get your’s. I just hope those kids will be alright through all of this.

Who that has written is without errors and has in their closet a collection of regret’s as well.
They both are to blame and quite frankly with 8 kids you ahve to have a system…..if it ahd not beren for KAt, it would ahve been a mess and pure chaos. She is a nurse and nurses think this way…priorities with organizing……….Jon had no say because he I dont’ think really cared and thenas time went on he decided to speak up and now he wants his own life……. this show ahd nothing to do with the problems………..the camera’s were on those kids, 2 days out of the week and that was all, so as far as I am concerned, it has not hurt them at all, and if I had 8 kids and a husband that didnt’ care, hell, I would do what I had to to make things easier for my 8 too. How are you with raisisng your kids? Do you know where they are at night? Do you listen to them, read to them, play with them? Give this lady a break!!!!!! She made life easier for the 8 and good for her!!!! Those kids have been raised to think for themselves and this will be a difficult time for them but not any different than other’s with divorced parent’s?? Well my kids and millions of other’s have done quite well going through a divorce……………how many couples do stay married……50% divorce……….so let’s get real and quit the name calling!!!! Get a reality check and not be so quick to jump on this Mom ……….
