Kate Gosselin defends spanking her daughter.

In response to the recent controversy centered around photographs of Kate Gosselin publicly spanking her daughter Leah, the John & Kate Plus 8 star tells Life & Style exclusively through her reps:
“Whether the paparazzi are there or not, I am a mother first. I love my children and when they misbehave, I discipline them as I deem appropriate for the situation.”

Oh STFU fake ugly azz hypocrite. If you didn’t do anything wrong, you wouldn’t feel the need to defend anything to anyone… Especially not strangers. Idiot bytch

I hate the fact that people freak out about spanking these days… I would of loved for the paps to follow my mom around when I was a kid!! lol
I tell you what, I never mouthed off to her.. all she had to do was give me “THE LOOK” and I shut right up

though i’m not a fan of Kate or what the show has become, i would have to disagree with you LolaH on this one. when people are constantly scrutinizing every single action you make, and putting them on the cover of magazines, i think you would feel the need to say something. especially if magazines and reporters are calling you for a statement on the photo that is published.

I would have spanked the kid, too. That is what kids’ butts are there for.

I\’m a mother myself and whether or not Im a star or not spankong my children should not be against the law. If we don\’t take back control of our children, then we lose control of ourselves and I will be damned if I have society telling me that I can\’t spank my children, you don\’t pay my bills, you did\’nt give birth to MY children, so if kate wants to spank any of her kids feel free to do so girl, you run them, they dont run you.

Sara, that’s the funniest thing I’ve read all day. Thanks!

Can’t stand Kate, but she is right. I have yet to meet the kid who didn’t deserve a smack on the arse at one point in their life.

i expected all these comments to be anti-smacking, i was pleasantly surprised

Me too winter. I do not see evidence that Kate \"beat\" her child…she misbehaved and was disciplined in a way that is legal and deemed appropriate. I would hate to have people follow me around and scrutinize my parenting skills 24 hours a day.

JJ – SAME! My mom used to spank me when my sister and I were kids. Sure there’s a limit but when a kid is just not listening, words won’t do it. I’m not saying that you should go ahead and slap a kid or punch them (that’s abuse!) but a little spanking here and there sure does get the message across.
Most kids aren’t like adults who can to be told what they did wrong.

I agree with all of the comments so far that are saying that Kate didn’t do anything wrong-spare the rod and spoil the child.

I am the mother of a 7 year old girl and I never spank her. Spanking is humiliating, degrading and teaches nothing but fear. It’s a free country, if you want to do significant damage to your relationship with your child, go ahead and spank. There are infinitely better ways of disciplining a child than spanking. Spanking shows a real lack of imagination. It’s lazy. I don’t hit other people when they do things I don’t like. Why would I hit my child?

Alison the reason you spank your child is because they have done something bad enough to deserve it. You don’t spank other people because you are not raising them. The reason today\’s society is so screwed up is because parents don\’t have the right to punish their children. I was spanked as a child and as an adult now I know when I got a spanking, I deserved it and I figure I grew up to be a pretty damn good person. Nowadays you have kids getting away with murder…literally because they know there are no consequences to their actions.
