The Alibi in Portland, Oregon is approached all the time by small, independent, student films asking if they can film in and outside and the owners always say yes. They received a call a few months ago about a film and the owner said yes without asking any questions, assuming it was another small film project.

Well The Alibi just found out a few weeks ago that it is Harrison Ford’s movie and it’s a huge production! Funny thing is that they wanted to hang a neon sign up adding to the current sign saying ‘Nude Dancers’ ‘Exotic Dancers’. Because of The Alibi’s very flamboyant sign people have assumed it is a strip club and the owners have tried to fight that reputation ever since they bought the place 20 years ago.

The producers said that they loved The Alibi and that is had “the best neon in Portland” so they were going to make it work even though they couldn’t use it as a strip club and they understood where the owners were coming from. So I guess now it’s being used as a regular bar and it’s set in Nebraska, I think.

I’ve been to The Alibi several times, and I know the family who owns it. If you live in or near Portland, do yourself a favor and go check out this awesome Portland hangout.  It’s the greatest atmosphere, really relaxed, really fun.  The karaoke is probably the best in Portland, and the drinks are delicious!
