That little “miscommunication” problem between Miss California codirector Shanna Moakler and crown-holder Carrie Prejean was clearly not as done a deal as Donald Trump would have liked us to believe.
Just one day after the Donald dismissed Moakler’s urgings to strip Prejean of her Miss California title and announced that the controversial beauty queen would remain the face of the Golden State, Moakler has resigned as the organization’s co-executive director.
“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization,” Moakler said in a statement this morning.
“I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth.”
Those would be the same contracts, Moakler has long asserted, that Prejean violated. (more…)

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are already the proud parents of an adorable 16-month-old daughter, Harlow, and now, they’re getting ready for the arrival of a bouncing baby boy in August, a friend tells In Touch.
“Joel bought water-based paint for the nursery and — surprise, surprise — it’s blue,” reveals another pal of the couple, who adds that Nicole refers to the baby as “he.”
“Plus, she recently ordered some plush animals and infant toys from FAO Schwarz, and everything just happens to be blue.”

Ashley Olsen stripped down to strike a few moody poses for the upcoming Summer issue of V MAN, which hits newsstands this Thursday. She chatted with Marc Jacobs about her forthcoming men’s collection for The Row, and the two designers also touched on her work ethic and the differences between her and Mary-Kate.
On doing a “celebrity line”:
“The way I look at it, I had a career as a child. I had a career in an industry in which the media kind of. . . they’re obsessed with the young girl thing. But when I turned 18, I moved to New York, and I haven’t really done anything to be a celebrity. I’ve been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I’m choosing for myself — to be a part of the fashion industry. . . the outside perception is very different because you do have celebrity brands, people like Jessica Simpson and Kimora Lee Simmons, and those are celebrity brands because they have their names on them.”

On working with Mary-Kate:
“The Row is really something that I’m doing while my sister still wants to focus on acting. She’s my partner in The Row, but she trusts me with the every day. I mean, I see her like ten times a day.”
On being different from her twin sister:
“When I was 14, 15, 16, 17, it was harder because the two of us were still very similar. We had to work through what’s special about us, and then the media had to work through it. . . I’ve never been one to engage the media to say that I’m different. I actually did the opposite and I totally went internal. I was like, “See y’all!” I want to be behind the scenes, and I don’t want people to know anything about my personal life. I have a job, I take it very seriously, and I work really hard.”

The Gosselins make up to $75,000 per episode on their TLC hit, Jon & Kate Plus 8, for a 20-episode season — and that’s not even counting all their freebies!
As the Los Angeles Times reports that TLC is scrambling to find a way to revise the May 25 season premiere given the latest news on the couple, the delicate balancing act of how to incorporate reality into a heavily produced “reality” show is in the balance.
For the Gosselin clan, it’s not just their show — but their lifestyle — that hang in the balance.
Kate, who grew up in a trailer park and didn’t go on her first airplane ride until her honeymoon to Disney World, now flies only first class for speaking engagements (mostly paid for by churches), sells signed photos of her kids for $20 a pop at appearances, and received a free tummy tuck after giving birth (Jon received a free hair transplant). A family source says while pregnant with the sextuplets, she grew “obsessed” with how many goodies the famed McCaughey septuplets received in 1997.
Jon, now a stay-at-home dad, was fired from his job at Style Craft Corp in 2004 after “spending much more time” on a “quest” for freebies than working, the company’s owner, David Rothermel, tells Us. (Rothermel finally has spoken out after growing furious at the couple’s well-worn claim that he was fired because the company didn’t want to insure his family.)
“Instead of keeping the attention on their kids, they’ve let the attention turn to money and fame,” says a family source of Jon and Kate, who, according to Nielson Media Research, are ranked No. 8 on the list of cable shows with the most product placement.
Marc Berman, senior television editor at Mediaweek, says producers cannot continue to portray the Gosselins as an everyday family trying to raise eight kids.
“Their lives have changed – they’re not struggling anymore,” Berman tells Usmagazine.com. “They’re eating at fancy restaurants now. Yeah, they still have eight children, but things are different.
See how much free stuff the Gosselin’s have gotten (it’s CRAZY) after the jump! (more…)
