“I was looking for a new challenge, and this was another musical,” he tells Us

Zac Efron says he dropped out of the Footloose remake because he wants to “grow a bit.”

“I want to grow a bit with the types of movies I want to make,” says Efron — who rose to fame with High School Musical. His next flick, 17 Again, opens April 17.

Footloose, he says, “sort of” wasn’t a good fit.

“It was more along the lines that I was looking for a new challenge, and this was another musical,” he says. It’s been rumored Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford could replace him.

Efron insists he’s “not…done with musicals in any way.

“I look forward to being in them when possible,” he says. “I want to try different things.”

Ideally, he’d like to do “everything” — comedy, drama, action.

“I’m still figuring it out truthfully…I don’t know,” he says. “It’s more about learning for me right now and trying as many things as possible.”

Efron says “it’s hard” to pick one person’s career to emulate, but ideally he’d like to follow in the footsteps of “anyone who has tried new things and isn’t afraid to take risks. People that work hard. Leo [DiCaprio], Johnny [Depp], Michael J. Fox.”

The actor says filming 17 Again made him “hungry for more.

“It was a blast. It really turned things around for me,” he says. “It was exciting, educational.”

He’s currently focusing on drama The Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud, in which he plays a cemetery caretaker who has weekly meetings with his dead siblings. He also falls in love with a young woman who may have died in a sailing accident.

Inglourious Basterds to premiere at Cannes!

Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino have a real Cannes-do—or, at the very least, Cannes-go—attitude about their new movie.

The box-office boys are set to bring their highly anticipated war epic Inglourious Basterds to the Cannes Film Festival come May. Per Variety, the movie will not only have its world premiere at the Riviera-based fest, but will also screen as part of the competition.

The Weinstein Co. has not commented on the film’s selection, and festival organizers will not unveil the event’s full lineup until April 23.

Tarantino already has a rich, and successful, history with Cannes, having taken home the Palme d’Or for Pulp Fiction in 1994. Ten years later, he retuned to serve as president of the festival jury.

Cannes, arguably the most glamorous of the world’s film festivals, runs May 13-24. The film opens on Aug. 21.

Has there been a force of nature that’s hit theaters in the way “Borat” did in the past three years? It was so unexpected. So unstoppable. So refreshing. Could Sacha Baron Cohen possibly have done it again? “Bruno” can’t possibly be what “Borat” was. After all, this time we know what to expect — anything and everything. Still, the first glimpse of “Bruno” is here and it’s hard to say it doesn’t deliver. What do you think?

Two days before his wedding, Doug and his three friends drive to Las Vegas for a blow-out bachelor party they’ll never forget. But, in fact, when the three groomsmen wake up the next morning, they can’t remember a thing. For some reason, they find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby in the closet of their suite at Caesars Palace. The one thing they can’t find is Doug. With no clue as to what transpired and little time to spare, the trio must retrace their hazy steps and all their bad decisions in order to figure out where things went wrong and hopefully get Doug back to L.A. in time to walk down the aisle.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant appear to have a great time with one another as they shoot “Do You Know The Morgans?” in New York City, NY last night.

I don’t know how I feel about them being paired up in a romantic comedy.  I think I only like SJP in Sex and the City.  She annoys me in every other role.  (Case in point…I thought she KILLED Failure to Launch) What do you think?

I just saw this promo for season 3, and I got so excited! I can’t wait for it to start! I re-watched season 1 over spring break, and was reminded how unfreakingbelievable this show is!
