Among the A-list celebrities to attend Ron Meyer’s annual Easter celebration in Malibu, CA today were Stephen Spielberg, his wife Kate Capshaw and their family as well as Matthew McConaughey, his girlfriend Camila Alves and their son Levi McConaughey. The two families seemed to enjoy each others company as they chatted and laughed, and little Levi even managed to steal Kate’s hat!

On Easter Sunday, Mel Gibson attended Mass at the Roman Catholic church he had built in 2005. His wife wasn’t with him. And after the service, he quietly spoke to some parishioners.

“Well,” he was overheard saying, “she’s filed for divorce.”

Last Thursday – the day before Good Friday – Robyn Gibson, 53, his wife of 28 years, signed divorce papers, seeking joint custody over their minor child, Thomas, 9, and spousal support.

That wasn’t the only surprising news. A source confirms to PEOPLE that Gibson and Robyn actually have been separated for three years.

The split was around the time that Gibson had reached a personal nadir when he was pulled for a DUI in Malibu. The movie star regained his sobriety after the notorious roadside incident in which he made anti-Semitic remarks that he later apologized for.

“They’ll do this amicably,” says the source. “There’s a lot of mutual respect and they’ve worked hard on their marriage and worked hard on their separation.”

Adds the source, “They’ll handle the divorce in the same respectful way.”

In fact, Gibson and his estranged wife attended church together with other family members on Palm Sunday, just four days before Robyn signed the divorce papers, PEOPLE has learned.

In addition to Thomas, the Gibsons have six older children: Milo, 19, Louis, 21, William, 24, twins Edward and Christian, 26, and daughter Hannah, 28.

Jason Priestley and wife Naomi Lowde are expecting their second child, their rep confirms to Usmagazine.com exclusively.

Lowde showed off her growing bump during a weekend shopping trip to Tiffany & Co.

The couple welcomed daughter Ava Veronica on July 2, 2007. Us Weekly named Priestley one of Hollywood’s sexiest dads that same year.”I love being a father. It’s totally ineffable,” he told ABC News Now’s What’s the Buzz shortly after Ava’s birth. “I love changing diapers. I love the whole thing — I’m all in.”

He and Lowde said they didn’t want to hire a nanny to help raise Ava.

“The time we’re going to get to spend with our daughter actually being an infant is so short that I really want to have that time with her,” Priestley said. “The fractured sleep that you get, the whole experience — I really want have it all and soak it in.”

The 90210 star (who is currently directing a few episodes of the CW spinoff) met Lowde, a makeup artist, in London in 2001. The following year, she helped him recover from a near-fatal race car accident at the Kentucky Speedway, in which he crashed into a wall head on.

They said “I Do” in a 1940s-themed wedding on The Bahamas’ Paradise Island in May 2005. Former costars Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Tiffani Thiessen and Ian Ziering were among the 120 guests.
