Get ready for Miss California’s battle with the gay community to heat up.

On NBC’s Today show Thursday, Miss California Carrie Prejean announced that she’ll be working with the National Organization for Marriage on a campaign opposing gay marriage.

“I am just here to protect marriage,” said Prejean, 21. “The National Organization for Marriage basically just respects marriages and people who support it. I am here to protect traditional marriage.”

Of the outrage following her conservative stance, she said, “I never thought in a million years that this would be happening right now. I was attacked for giving my own opinion on stage. I am going to do whatever it takes to protect marriage.”

Marriage, she added, “is something that is very dear to my heart, and I am just here to protect it. That’s all I am here to do.”

Although it is an issue “people are passionate about,” Prejean said: “Regardless of our opinions, we need to respect each other, even when we disagree. It’s all about respect.”

She said she has gotten no physical threats because of her views. Instead, “I’ve actually had so may supporters and so many people say, ‘Thank you so much. It had to take a beauty pageant contestant to actually stand up for what she believes in.’”

Asked about some claims that she resembles Alaksa Gov. Sarah Palin, Prejean laughed. “I think that’s funny,” she said. “The only comparison is that we have both been in a beauty pageant.”

“Definitely not anytime soon,” Prejean said. “That’s for sure.”

Octuplets mom Nadya Suleman was paid an unexpected visit on Wednesday afternoon by Orange County Social Services and two police detectives, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

“On Wednesday, April 29, La Habra Police personnel were requested to assist Orange County Social Services involving a matter pertaining to the Sulemans,” said watch commander Lt. Tom Dutton of the La Habra Police Department in a written statement. “As is customary, the department routinely assists other agencies, when so requested.”

In an interview with RadarOnline.com, Suleman said that a complaint was filed by one of her children’s school teachers after the teacher observed what appeared to be bite marks on the back of one of her sons, 3-year old Aidan. The website also claimed that Aidan showed up to school with a black eye. Suleman, however, downplayed Aidan’s injury explaining “He’s autistic, he bumps into things.”

This incident marked the fourth complaint levied against Nadya Suleman, 34, for possible child neglect and endangerment. The first three were filed against Suleman in late March 2009 by attorney Gloria Allred on behalf of the organization Angels in Waiting after Suleman released them from their service.

Newlyweds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are leaving Mexico — where they’ve been wearing face masks to protect themselves from swine flu while filming Montag’s music video, “Sex Ed.”

“On the plane — L.A. here we come!” Montag posted on Twitter. “Home, sweet, home.”

Montag admitted she was “so sad to leave Mexico,” but “ready to get out of pig flu country!”

On Tuesday, Pratt told Ryan Seacrest that they’re “definitely wearing facemasks everywhere.

“I’m not playing — I’m not trying to get pig flu,” he added. “We’re in isolation, we’re in full hiding.”

Montag and Pratt wed in front of Hills pals Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner and Lauren Conrad Saturday.

“I can’t believe I’m married!!!!!!!!” Montag tweeted. “So soooo excited — Mrs. Pratt!”

Up next for the couple: their honeymoon!

“I’m ready for a honeymoon!!!” Montag wrote. “Done with my music video…best one yet! Get ready.”

The couple is discussing “going to Tahiti or Fiji, somewhere tropical and exciting,” Pratt said yesterday.

When asked if MTV is footing the bill, Pratt replied: “We’ll see. Since it is a recession, we might just be going to Santa Monica Beach!”
