Angelina Jolie to play Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta

Angelina Jolie has signed on to portray crime novelist Patricia Cornwell’s heroine Dr. Kay Scarpetta in a forthcoming movie from Twentieth Century Fox and its Fox 2000 division. The screenplay will be based on Cornwell’s bestselling Scarpetta series of books, about the beautiful, hard-charging medical examiner who solves crimes, but it will not be focused on any one specific novel. The project has yet to hire a screenwriter or a director. Mark Gordon and Geyer Kosinski will produce.

I read the books and she is THE wrong choice. I just do not get Angelina. She is made out to be such a saint. People forget that the screwed around with a married man and all the crazy Billy Bob things. She will ruin the role for me-I\’ll never see the movie.

I don’t care who she’s had sex with and what she’s done, there are so many other actresses who would be so much more appropriate for this part. I love Patricia Cornwell’s books and Angelina is NOTHING near what I think of as Kay Scarpetta. Maybe if she added 10 years and turned off the seductress/intensity crap she calls “acting”?

It’s funny though, didn’t she proclaim that she won’t take up another movie for a while to focus on her kids?? Guess the economy crisis n her benevolent ways are costing her…
